Just like Lampkin, I think that's what he's betting on.

If he's in the portal and gets another year, he's got options.

If he doesn't enter the portal and he gets 1 more year, he's stuck at UCF.

He never seemed to do much of anything well, but, oh, my days, could he get up when he was defending the inbound pass.

He had a special skill in that regard. Very bouncy - but oddly only when contesting an inbound pass.

The first time I saw him at open practice I knew we were in trouble. He had a line drive shot that barely got 11 feet off the ground with zero handle whatsoever. The most overhyped player I can remember. I think he was completely misranked due to Covid his JR and SR year of HS.

People on this board had him as a one and done. He's going on 5 and done. After that "done," he'll really be done, unless he hooks on at some low-level pro league in Asia or Europe.

Caught up with him real quick in Vegas a couple weeks ago after his semi final game in The Crown tourney. Anytime I've met him in person, he's always seemed like a real good kid. Wish it would have worked out better on the court.

I remember going to the open scrimmage in Rochester. Some guys bolted to the lockerroom the first chance they got. Benny stayed signing autographs, taking selfies, chatting, etc. until someone had to drag him back. It genuinely looked like he was enjoying the experience, but not in a snobby way.

Benny is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. Fans would do well to separate the player from the person. I think Benny has a bright future ahead of him and I will continue to wish him the best.
