Benny Williams wants to clarify a few things from last season

I think most people assumed he didn't have an actual mental health issue, and he just got mad he got benched and probably wanted to quit, and Boeheim covered for him by saying he's taking a personal day. I think some fans were pushing the mental health narrative for whatever reason, but most thought it was nothing more than being upset about playing time and making the wrong decision.

Anyways, he showed immaturity, and he learned from it, as we all have at that age. Good for him.

Great article and an exciting season ahead for Benny. The determining factor in his success this season to me is his style of play. He's reiterated many times his improved jumpshot and focus on outside game.

Even in the first exhibition, we saw multiple fadeaway / turnaround shots, tough degree of difficulty, few going towards the basket moves inside. The increased pace will aide in his great athleticism as a rim runner for easy baskets.

I hope he simplifies his game in the ways we've seen him excel, but I still worry his focus is too much on showing off his 'stretch' game, and not as much rebounding/helping inside. The good news is the depth with Brown will significantly help offset rebounding or lackthereof.

He's been through the worst of it, we can all see the potential, and it's time for Benny to put it all together. This team's ceiling is the ceiling of Benny Williams.

Glad he’s doing better. Let’s just take open shots and drive more this season. Those turnaround jumpers with the hitch are cringeworthy.

If he can hit them when it's absolutely necessary in a tight game then that's still a plus. Hunting them in games where there is zero reason though... no thank you. Rather see him develop that into a reliable pull up vs how he does now.

It’s a secret.

For those of us without article access, did Bennie say his missed time was due to mental health issues or frustration with his playing time/role?

with his size and hops he should be dunking on everyone
I always thought Benny should take the Hakim approach. Just raise up and dunk on everybody. He's got the vertical to do it. I don't think I remember ever seeing Hakim get blocked. He was always above the rim. Benny would be hard to guard if he just jumped with arms extended.

If Williams could do what Warrick did, don't you think he would? Warrick was a crazy special talent we talk about 20 years later for a reason.

Williams should go up expecting to dunk more often, but calling him deficient because he can't do something only one guy in the history of the program ever did... doesn't seem fair.

We've got 52 minutes till game time. Let's get all the foolish over reactions out there. Sheesh.

Overreaction? We just gushed how he has matured, focused etc and not even 12 hours later he is suspended. I'm sure it's something minor, but it's a pattern with him. If he matured, then be a leader, be accountable, set the tone for your team.

It's an overreaction unless you happen to know what it was. No one was gushing about anything. He will be backand back to work reading that tweet exactly as written.

I have no knowledge of what it is. I'm simply frustrated that one of our upperclassmen, who should be a team leader is suspended for a violation of team rules. No one is perfect, but you have to expect more out of the guys that should be leading the team.
