Best start to the season in years?

Yup. I think T Hunt takes a leap forward this year

and his favorite elf, Scotty Shafer!

Anyone else think that our schedule gives us a legitimate chance at starting 5-0 when ST comes to town?
That's what I like, positive visualization. Why not , returning lots of starters , new talent giving depth and competition , breeding confidence. Get it going early against Nova and keep it going.

2 easier games to start the season, home vs MD, Metlife vs ND, then home vs Louisville. I think in terms of major cf, you couldn't ask for a better schedule. Full disclosure, I thought the football team has been mediocre at best the past 5 years but I think the stars are aligning and a good season is overdue.

I think the schedule ramps up nicely. I like it better than the recent Syracuse tactic of starting the season with a B1G team.

The only shame is that we won't be 3-0 going into a big game with ND at the Dome. The place would be rocking.

5-0 would be amazing, but 4-1 is a must. Too bad we didn't have Clemson at home this season. FSU isn't happening, but Clemson losses a bunch.

The only thing I hope for FSU is to be more competitive.

You are right, the dome would be rocking and rolling with Irish fans making up half of the crowd.

Well, now we'll know they'll make up 8/10 of the crowd at our N.J. "home game."

Last time we started out 5-0 was 1987.

Before that, 1960?

I'm not holding my breath. 3-0 lines up better than it has in years, but even that hasn't occurred since 1991 I think.

wow on the years.

3-0 better happen. 4-0 would be incredible, because that would also make for 1 hell of a day at Giants Stadium. plus the momentum should float right into a nice friday night game v lville where the roof should be blown off with noise against a team whose # we oddly have and will starting a rookie qb.

then we take our lumps, hopefully in a competitve sold out game.

i dont think people realize just how great a huge start can be. just imagine sitting 5-0 with 7 games to find 1 win?? obviously if we only found 1, it would be a disaster, but i dont think it would shake out that way.

im marking myself down for a feb hope springs eternal 9-3. (fla st, clemson, and 1 of pitt & bc)

They'd probably be forced to realize it, because I think it would be a ginormous story, one we so rarely tell.

I could be wrong about this, but the last meaningful well attended pep rally I can recall was 1987. I wasn't actually there, but I just remember the news covering it. Because I specifically remember Coach Mac's line "let's go 6 and 0, and I can't think of anyone better to go 6-0 against than Penn State"

You're right though, start out 3-0 and let's see the SU showing and energy in NYC. Should be quite the good time. The school on the other side of the field obviously helps as well.

Coach Mac is going to be at the pep rally this year saying the same thing , let's go 6-0 but he's gonna substitute the Seminoles for Penn St.

Really want to beat ND.

Would be sweet.

Just to refresh everyone... Golshon returns as NDs QB this season. The same Golshon that led ND to a BCSNC as a freshman and was kicked out of school as a Sophmore. Granted that defense should be credited for actually getting them to the BCSNC. This kids game plays to SUs weaknesses the past 3-5 years.

If SU wins the game in NYC, it will be a HUGE win.
