Big east teams in coaches preseason top 25

47 teams got votes.

Six from our schedule:

3. USC
27. Louisville
29. Cincy
34. USF
41(t). RU
43(t). Mizzou

NR: Northwestern, Pitt, Minny, UConn, Temple, Stony Brook

Louisville and Cincinnati are close, and Boise is in at 22. So there's that.

ACC has 3- FSU (7), Clemson (14) VPI (20). I'm really going to have to get used to cheering for these schools OOC as I don't really like Clemson or FSU and hate VPI. Hopefully FSU's performance actually matches their expectations this time, but I'm not counting on it. Same with Clemson.

...,
Big East never recognized in the preseason ever it seems like. However...always represented at the end of the year and that's all that really counts.

My point is...Syracuse hasn't been in the preseason Top 25 in seemingly forever. Yet you're making fun of the other Big East teams because they also aren't in the preseason Top 25 this season?

We went 1-6 just a season ago for cripe's sake.

I understand the many advantages of joining the ACC, but it is extremely sad to me that that's what we've lowered ourselves to...celebrating over the accomplishments of our peers. I was fine doing that for a three or four year span because I believed that it was only temporary. It's gone on way longer than it should.

I agree with this.

The BE sucks, in large part, due to the fact that we have sucked for so long.

If Pitt, SU, and WVU could have all maintained top 25 level performance over the last decade, this whole thing may have gone differently. Of those 3, we did the worst.

We're basically the worst BE team over the last 5 years, not exactly the position from which we should be throwing stones.

Funny thing is if there wasn't an expansion last year the BE would have #11 WV and #17 TCU.

How in god's green earth does Rutgers....with an entirely new coaching staff made up of leftovers and 2nd hand help...get picked above us? That boggles my mind.

No Stony Brook? Man, the polls are such a joke.

Also, others receiving votes - GaTech (28), NCSU (35), UVA (38).

GaTech @ VaTech, week 1/ESPN/8pm, should be a very good game.

You get the benefit of the doubt when you're the USC of the east.

I was most surprised by 4 big east teams(everyone other than Louisville) ahead of mizzou and northwestern. Maybe that mizzou game won't be as difficult as expected. I know it's in their house, but if they're worse than rutgers, it sounds reasonable to expect a win.

If you're not in it from the get-go you'll never make it to the top at the end.

Why shouldn't I think Syracuse can beat the 6 no votes and rut? And maybe shittyfla and mizzou??

There's got to be 7 wins and the Pinstripe in there.....

While your logic makes sense, I can give you a reason. Because last year, they whupped up on WVU (a preseason loss) and lost to RU (a preseason win).

I've given up in trying to predict which games this team wins.

I'll make the case,

Offense: Wasn't very good last year but improved over the god-awful 2010 campaign.

I'll try to make the case...

We lost Sanu early to the draft on offense which is huge. He was awesome. That said, we return a bunch of talent at receiver including Coleman and Harrison. We return our top two backs, our top FB, our top 2 QB's, we return a few starters on the OL and bring in a 5th year Sr. and 3 year starter from Maryland at RT. We also return every TE.

On defense we will be very good and have ABE players at every level. Not every position, but every level including reigning BE Defensive Player of the Year, OLB Khaseem Green. Our MLB is a 3 year starter and the other OLB is only a true soph, Kevin Snyder. He was terrific last year. Our secondary was just ranked in the top 10 by ESPN.

As for the coaching staff, we lost a group of dynamic recruiters, but overall, the coaching itself was not Schiano & Co's strong suit. Sure Flood is an unknown as a head coach but that can all change this year if he is able to accomlish what Schiano couldn't do in a decade.

Anyway, we'll see. I'm curious to see how Flood does.

Good post, this is an absolutely huge year for Rutgers, honestly it could make or break the program for the forseeable future.
