Bills 2024 Thread - Misery loves company

You think so, man? Will it ever? Just doesn't seem possible. The thought of going through another long season a year from now... just draining tbh. The longer it takes the longer it also seems unlikely, if that makes sense (w current 'core').

I also was dreading yesterday so the loss was not shocking to me. Just, how it happens. It's just painstaking. I just wish we lost to the Ravens. Been texting a couple Bills' diehard buddies today. Those guys were more optimistic than I, but all pretty bummed out.

Again...

Yup the script is the same every year now, it seems. It doesn’t matter how successful they are during the season. They can’t even get to a Super Bowl, let alone win one, and I don’t see that changing as long as Mahomes and Reid are in KC.

Today I've seen some ridiculous statistical anomalies. Seems to be McDermott's forte. Like... we scored more points yesterday than any team all season at Arrowhead. Naturally.

I also was dreading yesterday, literally for months, so the loss was not shocking to me. Just, how it happens. It's just painstaking. Hell, wish we lost to the Ravens. Been texting a couple Bills' diehard buddies today. Those guys were more optimistic than I, but all pretty bummed out.

I think the 10,000 foot picture is we were lucky to experience this success this year. The team was not as talented as previous iterations. I think last year we beat KC in the playoffs if we weren’t decimated on D. Going forward I have very low expectations. We’re going to need a lot more luck than we even had this year. to go through the chiefs and Baltimore just to get to the superbowl is not a recipe for success

You’re nuts if you believe Terry Pegula is giving McDermott 5 more years of Josh Allen and no Super Bowls.

New stadium + fan unrest over incumbent coach’s failure to get to a SB and he’s gone.

It will be what Josh Allen wants

And Cincy is going to be better too.

Agree though, this was supposed to be a "rebuild year". So from that standpoint sure, we overachieved. If we want to make us feel better. And Allen has been largely healthy. You lose entire seasons when a QB gets dinged up which can happen really anytime.

The time was in 2022, but 13s... lol.

Barring a catastrophic injury to his arm I don't see why that has to be the case. They maybe should cut back on running him in the next year or two, but I don't see why he couldn't thrive in a similar pass heavy offense as Cincinnati runs with Joe Burrow.
I was referring to his running. As a passer, I think he will be fine for a while.

They're fine.

But they're not Justin Reid, Nick Bolton, Chris Jones. Or McDuffie.

We don't have enough high end talent -- that, or they're not being put into positions or being coached to be in position to have those levels of impact.

Milano MIGHT be the only guy who is that level. But he's hurt all the time and has significant issues too.

Reid and Bolton aren't that great tbh, Jones and McDuffie are studs

Reid and Spags won't be around forever. I know Allen is getting older but he's still in his prime. Just gotta keep trying and hope for a little luck.

the bills had amazing turnover “luck” this year. 19 STRAIGHT games they have won the turnover battle. This kind of thing doesn’t tend to reproduce year over year. that alone will provide the potential for significant regression record wise
The OL has been incredibly healthy each of the last two years also.

you mean like this

In the midst of the debate over the ball's placement, it might come as a surprise that the NFL tracks the location of each game ball in real time using an RFID tracking chip.
The RFID chip can tell you where the ball is but the problem has been when to sync it up with when the knee or forearm or a certain body part was down, not to mention when forward progress was blown dead.As far as I know they haven’t perfected that yet.

True ., but on these QB sneaks knee being down isn’t often an issue

Ya they are a fluke who lucked into some players because of extra picks and bad drafting around them. I do think Buffalo has some young D talent in Williams and Bishop and Carter that DT from last year. Still we absolutely need more especially in the secondary and DE.
Fluke? I think around the NFL most would say Roseman is the best or one of the best GMs. He has rebuilt the SB Championship roster (only 4 guys left) while also staying competitive. Every team can make a play to draft the same guys. A lot of teams passed on Carter a couple years ago for off the field issues. He could’ve been the #1 pick in that draft as he is that good. Mitchell was the top corner in the draft last year. Worst kept secret was the Eagles would draft him. DeJean dropped to the second and Philly scooped him who also was rumored to Philly in the first. Howie drafts well, moves around in the draft, and also does a good job in FA along with contracts new/old.

Correct but they probably want to wait until it can be used in every situation. They still have the issue of matching it up to when the whistle was blown and when forward progress was stopped.

So Knox said that Kincaid has been playing with a torn PCL?

Roseman is an elite GM but he gets too much hype sometimes. People were being crazy when he traded for Dotson last year

Roseman is a really good GM but the fluke comment was in regards to multiple guys falling in his lap because the teams around them in the draft passed on guys they clearly shouldn't have and he's robbed a few teams in trades (ie the Titans). He's missed on a few guys to like everyone but he's really done a good job of taking advantage of bad moves by teams around them.

Correct and also apparently had some issues with his other knee as well (fluid). That explains why he didn't seem to have the burst the last half of the year.

I remember he missed a few games including the first Chiefs game, but that seems more significant than certainly I had been aware of.

I think people are a little too down on him, I think he still has a huge future and I was pissed when you guys drafted him, I wanted him a lot.

I would still like an explanation the a s s h o l e who was blocked out of the play view was allowed to overrule the spot of the guy who was not. Did we ever get an explanation?

Warren is an idiot. Spagnolo is 11-41 as a head coach. McDermott can win a Super Bowl - need better players. He got better this year I thought. Took Andy Reid a long time too.
if you think Warren sharp is an idiot your opinion is invalidated. And who cares what his record was at a different time with a different team. Just removing him from the chiefs will be enough
