Binghamton Post Game Thread

For anyone who underestimated how important Kiyan was as a recruit to get eyes on the program. Already 24,000 likes on this post:

I thought that was La La, but from sitting behind her if was hard to tell. But, it looked like her jersey wasn't a 7. Her hair was in the way, but it looked like a 3. Anyone can confirm or deny?

we looked inept in the half court - 3 point shooting looking awful (one game) - but we played tough man to man and got a lot of easy transition points - we got none last year - I’m hoping we can just mirror what Houston does (if possible)

Sure looked like a hamstring strain.

Hard to imagine less than 4 weeks.
Yeah, especially with the speed at which JJ plays. I wouldn't pretend to know how long it would be for him, but I also would think they'd be careful with it so it's not lingering all year. So hopefully it's nothing and he's back soon, but it could be something that takes some time.

Whoa, I didn't get to see the game, but Kyle was doing alleyoops all by himself?!?!?!?!?
Ha, not quite but he was on the receiving end of at least 5-6.

Also, I can’t believe you missed Matt Park’s terrible attempt at a Golden Girls “reference”. He said something like “an episode of Golden Girls has broken out” after pointing out that Tyler Betsey was guarding their player Beverly. Obviously, NONE of the Golden Girls characters or even actresses are named Betsey or Beverly but you know how Matt do.

That's amazing.

-even though he was picked second team ACC, (and I like his game overall, despite his shortcomings), JJ is our most replaceable starter IMO. Kiyan can clearly play the two or Kingz can play the two with Betsey or White at the 3.
Agree on JJ. He gonna be Coach JJ for a month.

The BIG question is can HCAA play the correct lineups at the right time.

If we get in a lull vs good teams, we’re down by 20.

There's almost a week off before Houston in Vegas and our last cupcake. 21 days from now. Obvi he needs to be game ready too and conditioned too before that gauntlet.

Maybe see how he does and then get Kiyan back in. Being back for Tenn at the dome would be a month from now worst case and a better game back for him.

Kiyan seems to feed off the spotlight, seems like starting him and Sadiq first off the bench is going to be solid for us.

Half court was sloppy but it improved as the game went on.
Yeah, and George was in command throughout. We had minimal TOs and not many bad or late clock shots, just a lot of open misses from 3. Thought movement, passing was fine in the half court tonight, it did take us a few trips to adjust when they switched to zone.
Wouldn't call the half court inept tonight

What a refreshing win! We’re essentially the polar opposite of what the roster was last year & I’m absolutely here for it… it’s nice to be back to being the team that dunks everything & catches everything near the rim, I missed you long, athletic “Syracuse” style players!🤣

Some with more recent views on this than what I experienced years ago have said it might be less.

Hope they’re right.

But your point is good. He depends so much on speed and quick burst. It’s a concern.

Kyle gives me big time Kenneth Farried vibes. Not a tall center. But a big muscular dude that is an absolute freak athlete. Don’t have great offensive skills but will make a living off alley oops, fast break points and grabbing boards. Can anchor the back end of the defense. Very similar builds and play styles. If Kyle is half the player Farried is. We are in a good spot lol

William Kyle is an absurd athlete. That combination of height, weight, and leaping ability is so rare.
Unfortunately, his shooting form is equally rare. :)

I love it - he hustles, plays defense, rebounds, blocks shots, and dunks everything! Soure played pretty well too. Really liking our new centers so far.

Thought the team looked really good. Holy crap, Kyle can jump. Kiyan's shot looks really good. Without commenting on successes/outcomes because of the opponent, I think the effort level across the board was really nice to see.

Naithan Georges vision and decision making was a real positive. But also all you really had to do was throw near the rim.

I'd like to see a good bounce back game from Kingz and Fennell.

I think Freeman will/can be "The Guy" this year.

They played a crummy team and ran them out of the gym. That's great, and precisely what I wanted to see.

Loved the defensive effort. Will be interesting to see how that translates against better teams, but it was great to see them bring it for the first time in years.

They'll shoot better from 3, especially if they get similar looks as last night. It's become a make/miss sport, and sometimes you miss.

Lots to be encouraged by. Key is to keep it up. Gotta come out with the same urgency against Delaware State. And Red will need to get a more coherent substitution pattern down by the time we head to Vegas.
