BJ Daniels Best QB We Will Face This Fall

That's fine, still not the context of the quote you used to try to marginalize my point.

About the quote.

Buddy made the comment in 1989 before the Eagles took on the 49ers in Philly that fall.

He was referring to Joe Montana and a reporter's observation that Montana was the most accurate pocket passer in the League.

Buddy pointed out that Joe would have less ability to throw accurately if he were on his butt all day.

Trying to get BJ Daniels on his butt is very difficult because he has so much agility, speed and quickness.

I'm glad you agree that he had the best game against the Orange at the QB position.

I think that's right.

You seem very upset with my post - you can't seem to make heads or tails of what I have said - you find no rhyme or reason to my thoughts.

I am very disappointed that my post has caused you such angst.

Let me try to help you better understand.

Obviously Barkley is a very strong college QB - the best pure QB we will face this year - the guy with the most pro potential - the classic drop back player.

But, as far as the guy we will have to defend - and that's what counts in my book - the best overall QB we will face this fall is BJ Daniels.

And that fact that - as you have observed BJ - had the best game against us, would seem to support my observation.

Thanks.

OPA, it seems you misinterpreted my post - I have no angst, nor am I upset. I did have some confusion as to what point you were trying to make, as I stated in my first post, simply because you seemed to present a different point of view with each of your responses. I simply pointed out the areas that seemed to contradict each other or at the very least, not support each other, by asking a few questions.

I'm probably one of the most laid back people on this board based on some posts I've seen. I actually don't even tend to talk SU sports directly here because people get so worked up.

I also recommend you read my post again, because at no time did I agree with your statement that BJ had the best game against us.

Gosh, I don't think so.

Gosh, watch more football. I can't believe I'm responding to a poster who thinks the best quarterback we play has lost 12 of his last 13 conference games. You sound ridiculous.

Thank you, you helped make my point without me looking up the particulars.

No problem, didn't know if we knew each other since I do have a dog.

Would you have made this post if the three balls he threw right at our defenders were intercepted?

Yes.

Barkley is a great player but he is one-dimensional.

They guys at Cincy and Louisville are very good players.

But Daniels is the best - he throws well - short and long - and runs brilliantly. Plus, he is a four-year starter.

BJ was a one-man team out there on Saturday night. From up close one could see just how talented a guy he is.

Lets go you Orange!! Beat the Bearcats!!!

Your agenda shines through here. Pump up Daniels in case anyone bashes the coaches for the defensive gameplan.

Yes.
I used to think that because their conference passing numbers were similar and daniels gives you more on the ground. Nassib's conference numbers are much better this year and he easily passed Daniels. Daniels only puts up big rushing numbers against SU.

Every new game is a new lesson especially with college kids.

I don't expect him to improve that much in 1 week .. season to season yes .. but one week ... not so much.

You're really getting hung up on another issue.

The fact is that Barkley did not dominate SU this year in the way that BJ Daniels did.

Regardless of pro potential that's a fact.

You are hung up on the fact that Barkley doesn't need to dominate in order to beat SU ... it was a hard fought game but they didn't need him to fire up for 400+ yards ... look at what he put up over the weekend in a shootout. The fact is USC didn't need Barkley to throw for 400 yards or run for 200 to win, that is a fact.

So much of this is nonsensical. He plays really well against us. He is prone to bad accuracy and bad decisions. He is maybe the 4th best QB in the BE.

Now if the argument was we struggle more against mobile QB's game plan wise, I'd agree. Barkley and Kiffin said that our game plan was to not give up anything over the top, giving him only dump downs. It worked - if only we'd been able to tackle their receivers during the whole game like we did the 1st Q. Our game plan vs BJ didn't work as well, IMHO.

The only thing good about BJ Daniels are his first two initials! Zing!

I was surprised how small Daniels is. They say he's 6' but I think they are lying. No doubt he ran very well against us but maybe I'm crazy but it appeared he could only throw to the sides and I wondered if he has a difficult time seeing over the linemen. I don't recall any throws to the middle and even his shovel passes seemed to be thrown underhand towards the sides.
