Blackout Looms of ESPN on YouTubeTV

To add to your point, Google/YouTube has already floated the idea, claiming that Disney/ESPN is jacking up the price to give advantage to Disney's Hulu, a direct competitor to YTTV.

Further, YTTB has leveraged its size to garner the same deals as the cable companies. SNY and YES Network are still not on YTTB because they want too much per viewer. If Disney does not come to an agreement, I think Google will do as you say, file an antitrust lawsuit. At the very least, Disney will need to air its dirty laundry in its practices , pricing, etc. Besides, why should we have to subsidize private planes for Herbie and his dog so he can be on game day in one place and call a game a few hours later elsewhere? Sorry, Herbie can fly coach. ESPN can cut a major portion of its expenses by cutting back on "air talent."
They both suck. If either cared about the consumer, this would be settled during the quiet period from Wimbledon to US Open/start of College Football. I am not expecting that they resolve this dispute prior to the game tonight, but maybe by tomorrow. But if this goes into next week, the blackout will also affect the start of College Basketball. I know there is some other short term options to catch the game tonight, but I really am comfortable and enjoyed my setup with Youtube TV.

Anybody know if I get the weekend or day pass for Sling, if I can record the game and watch it later tonight? Even if I have to start watching after the game has ended?

Well, some people- many will not admire the YOU TUBE position. In fact, I suspect some YT observers will not be watching, maybe all of them. There will be a response from viewers, and it will not be positive.

Wasn't Wildhack King of ESPN before coming to Cuse??
Must really have some connections...
This is probably more of a Disney decision than an ESPN decision. Disney owns ESPN, as well as Hulu and Fubo (Thanks, FloridaCuse), direct competitors to YTTV. Disney has an interest in maxing their revenue and protecting their streaming networks while YTTV/Google have an interest in keeping their pricing competitive. That said, I would not be surprised to see a lawsuit or heavy discussion of one if this drags deep into next week.

If not, the highlights will be on YouTube shortly thereafter, and usually the entire game can be found on YouTube later.

Just added sling tv for a 1 day pass. Better to be safe than sorry. Will be out trick or treating with the kid so needed to be able to DVR the start.

I'm in the same boat. What I read was that you can record standard espn on Sling but not espn 3 or acc network extra.

I have ESPN Plus as part of the Disney streaming bundle but I am locked out of ESPN because they ask for my provider and when I select You Tube and sign in, I am locked out of watching. Soooo, what the hell is the point of ESPN Plus?
How are you locked out? Do you get an error message or something? I just tried logging in with tv provider (selecting YTTV), and I get the following screen so I think it still works.

Wow, I kind of been missing it lately as I switched to the ESPN app which doesn't have DVR capability. Glad I made the switch now.

Yeah I'm wondering if I'll be able to pause it while trick or treaters are at the door.

I'd be a little wary that you'll actually have access come game time if your only access is with YTTV as TV Provider. There might be a glitch in their technology that they might discover. I suggest having a backup plan.

Since the game is on standard espn, that shouldn't be a problem with Sling. Just record it and pause as needed. That said, I don't currently own Sling so I assume it works this way. You could always try recording something currently on and trying to pause to see if that works.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if I have an issue. My backup plan is either Sling or using Stremio. The latter is free so I'll probably do that - but there's no dvr so I won't be able to pause the game

If you have the full ESPN Unlimited you won't (or shouldn't) have a problem.

Isn't there a sympathetic court somewhere that can whip up an injunction, with the foundational claim being that "everyone" (aka America!) needs to see not only Joe Filardi's debut, but his inevitable TD pass to Dan Villari? If not, this country of ours is on its last legs.
