Powerhouse teams continue to pad their schedules by playing over-matched opponents instead of giving us what we want: powerhouses vs. powerhouses. You sometimes wonder if they aren’t competing with each other to see who can run up the biggest score, more than against the pathetic team they’re actually sharing the field with. In response, I’m going to post a weekly fantasy. I’ll take the two largest offensive scores rolled up by ranked teams and created a game between them by listing all their scoring plays as if they occurred in the same game.

In our second Blow-Out bowl, defending champion and 17th ranked Mississippi takes on the #3 ranked Horned Frogs of Texas Christian.

Ole Miss doesn’t look so old after scoring 146 points in their first two games. Chad Kelly was 20 for 25 for 346 yards and 4 scores. Quincy Adeboyejo caught three of those and averaged 24 yards on 5 catches. They used a running back by committee, (10 guys: nobody got more than 48 yards or a single TD) to rush for 215 yards at 6.1 yards a pop for 4 more scores. They also had two pick sixes to one. But it all came down to a little ol’ 37 yard field goal.

TCU’s Trevone Boykin was 18 for 27 for 285 yards and 3 scores. Kolby Listerbee caught 6 for 142 yards and a score. They also had 11 different guys run for 245 yards, (5.0) per carry) and 4TDs.
