Bob Chesney

This isn’t true. I’ve heard his name discussed prior for jobs outside of the NE. He’s a good coach who will move up. The risk with guys from the south is they underestimate the cultural and recruiting hurdles in the north east.

It’s very true. If Chesney coached in Iowa he would not be on the Syracuse administrations nor Syracuse fans radar. There are a ton of guys like him, maybe even better.

You care, that's who cares because you keep responding lol.
No, seriously I give less than zero fuqs about whether you agree with me or not. But you're right, my bad. I'll stop responding. Go Orange!

If you don't care, why are you on here complaining?
Complaining about what? I don't remember complaining about anything. And I do care about Syracuse football. I just don't care whether or not that poster agrees with me.

The truth is that Syracuse is probably one of the three hardest/worst power-conference jobs.

In the pecking order of college football, Syracuse needs to think outside the box and take a shot.
I hear you, and I used to think that too, but if what Wildhack said was true, that might not be the case after all. Considering these two factors; we are allegedly spending in the middle of the pack of the ACC, and we are only a few hours away from NE, PA, NJ, and a short flight from the entire East Coast.

The way he framed the argument made me realize it’s not that bad a gig after all.

Who? What 'people in the business of coaching'? Where is this 'appeal to authority' coming from?
I don’t have time to show you how to dig deeper on this stuff. The info is out there and it’s not like his name was plucked from the ether. It’s ok to admit you don’t know enough about something to have a fully informed opinion. I don’t. But I’m comfortable saying he’s highly regarded and will coach FBS ball if not P5 ball very very soon

We all already know that only ADJWs opinion is what counts. This is all debate, speculation, and a free exchange of ideas. it’s ok to have a differing opinion.

If Chesney coached in Iowa or Tennessee he wouldnt even be in the conversation. He’s only being looked at because he coaches in and is from the northeast. That’s the ONLY reason.

There are a lot of good lower level coaches out there. I’d go vet former QB Willie Simmons at Florida A&M. In 6 seasons he is 33-12 and 64-24 overall as a HC. Dynamic offense and from the ACC footprint who started his college career at Clemson. That’s the type of guy I want.
That is not the only reason - a major reason to be sure - but the guy is a winner and apparently a class act. Sure look around but I suspect JW is locked on.

I hope Wildhack learns his lesson from basketball in which he made a hire from the same staff that oversaw the demise and now is, unsurprisingly, showing the same issues.

While football and basketball are two different sports and it’s not an apples to apples comparison, I think the struggles of Red so far could lead him to go outside the former Cuse coordinators during Dino’s tenure and push hard for Chesney

Maybe you want to give the guy half a chance before condemning him.

What "lesson" do you think there is 5 games into Red's tenure?

Regardless, Red's situation will have zero impact on who Wildhack hires.

Read the Holy Cross Board. They apparently have a few fans over there that hate Cuse...the city, people and university. Strange...I have no opinion on Holy Cross.
Holy Cross’ campus is the only nice thing about Worcester. They’re probably sick of getting lumped in with the rest of that city.

I went to Holy Cross. On Genesee street. For kindergarten through 6th grade. Was quite fun. Lol. Never lost a basketball game all the years was there. Powerhouse of a team with Greg Paulus. Loved it. But that holy cross. No idea lol

Well for a lot of parents you have to do it just for your kid to remain competitive and make the team. I’m seeing it now with my almost 6-year old who is doing a beginner lacrosse clinic. We just want exposure, there are some who take it way too seriously for a 5 and 6 year olds.
100%. Our daughter plays softball and the expectations of what they need to do is absurd. Hitting lessons, pitching lessons, etc… it is a fortune and it is just like keeping up with the Joneses. She plays club and now on JV in high school. We started when she was six. There is something almost every day, year round. We are fortunate to leave in a nice area, but the competitive nature leads to more more more. One day when she is done I’m gonna try to figure out how much we spent and I’ll cry, I don’t have the heart to do it until she retires.

Good thing you didn’t have a kid in hockey that was good, you would find out after it’s done what you truly can afford… New truck, boat camp, snowmobiles…

My first grader is 2 years in, the commitment required is impressive...

It's one thing to get rid of jb because he's old, it's another to get rid of his lineage immediately

One of those freaks where you give the assistant a short leash and say well we tried when you go external

Obviously different for Lewis even though I like him

You guys at Holy Cross used to crush our St. Ann's CYO team.

I have never been beaten so badly at anything in my life.

I don't know who the coach was - I can picture him - but he was very good at that level.

My son played on high level teams throughout NY including locally. The travel, financial and training commitment was enormous for us but we found a way to make it work. We would be in Toronto one weekend and Boston the next, followed up with a trip to Chicago and Pittsburgh. We added it all up afterwards and we spent close to $145k all in for him to drop out of hockey at 16 to play for the school.
Needless to say, our daughter plays travel softball and will be trying out for JV this year. The lesson we learned is it doesn’t matter what travel team they are on when they are 10-12yrs old as long as they have a committed coach. One that gets down to their level and critiques in a constructive way. Let them be kids and by all means do not sign them up for clinics. Spend the money on private lessons that are consistent every week and watch them grow from that.
I wouldn’t let my daughter do what my son went through at such a young age. Burn out is a real thing and my son hit it. Let them be kids first and they will let you know when they are ready for a full commitment to whatever they want to do.

Are parents today starting to train little hockey player at 4 or 5 years old?
My son started pushing buckets at the coliseum at 3yrs old. It was a full commitment at 8yrs old with strength and conditioning.
