Boeheim's Army vs Blue Collar U Gameday...

I wouldn't totally dismiss JB's zone either it got us to the second weekend only 2 years ago and most of our impact transfers were originally recruited with that D in mind (though it may be why they didn't pick us the first go round.) I'd attribute the success we had 2010-2014 when we were as good as anybody to the zone. Then the next few years unfortunately it was all we had.

We aren't going to commit to it 100% out of the gate and use it to try and beat teams that are ranked higher and much more experienced than us two weeks into the season in Maui... but it would be crazy to not have in the bag as an option. Good size at guard and on the wing and our biggest center ever who is pretty athletic this squad has all the makings of your typical JB zone team.

So not even a tiny knock on JB as a disclaimer but that wasn't a traditional 2-3 JB zone Blackwell put out there. Much more of a Louisville/UNLV style of zone that for very short stretches resembled our old 2-3 but mostly not.

That's the kind of zone that can still very much be effective for stretches. Hope Red gets the tape on that game lol. It was pretty well executed for a team that's played together maybe 2 weeks and less for some of the guys.

Been nice to watch some cuse hoops albeit with honorary cuse mixed in or not especially as we are all starved and salivating to see the new era in action.

Elmore is a balding kinda pudgy deceivingly good hooper.

These guys after Elmore are bricklayers so far this tourney. They prefer going inside. Outside the Fischer kid- they will be somewhat undersized vs us. Aggressive on D like BCU but not to that level of speed, strength athleticism.

This should play to our strengths a good deal. Only thing that's dumb is it's in WV so I expect they will have the crowd.

For once wishing I still lived in WV to help get some more orange in the stands.

Whatever zone they were playing looked like they were still giving up uncontested shots that just so happened to not go in the basket.

Yes ... but many were rushed and not in the flow of the offense. It wasn't perfect by any means but was effective in disrupting what they wanted to do. Having two shot blockers inside was in their heads as well.

Yup.

Especially BJ. Their forwards are big and athletic. Need as many bodies as we can get. Gonna need his scoring stable point, too.
Need Buycks too. Knows how to use his body. Post up game and can draw a ton of fouls

We don't need Buycks to beat this team. BJ we do need just to make sure we have the depth. Herd that is not as good as BCU
