Boeheim's Army vs Herkimer Originals Gameday...

Seeing this crowd, man... this city/area is just dying for a competitive Cuse team. Look at the fanfare for a first round rec tournament. Coaching staff has got to instill into this team that no other area in the country will treat a college team's players with as much royalty as this one does when the team is good.

I love TBT, a quick hit of basketball fun in the summer is just what the doctor ordered.

Couple random thoughts:

Herkimer shouldn't have zoned BA, even a little bit. No other team will make that mistake.

Perkins will be a big upgrade over Christmas, this team has another level to it.

Buddy is probably the best player in this tournament. Dont be surprised if he drops 40 on someone.

Jimmy coming off the bench for 10 quick points is the perfect role for him. Always wanted him doing that for Syracuse.

It's always interesting to see how people develop after college and perform in this tournament. Frank Mason is not nearly as good as you would think he would be.

I read somewhere that Perkins is is not going to play

Don’t know what you were expecting but Mason did some good things yesterday.

He was national college player of the year and an NBA rotation player not that long ago. I would expect a guy with that resume to be among the best TBT players, but he's looking like a solid back up.

Elijah Hughes and Frank Mason might be the best player in the tournament at their respective positions. If Buddy is there and heathy their chances of reaching the final seem strong.

Mason looked old last night. A few years ago he was still a solid pro. Maybe just not very motivated last night.
Gilyard was awesome at point. Team was under control and pushing tempo with him in there. Moving forward I wonder if Mason is more dialed in or of Gilyard plays most of the game.

Really I thought he was flying up for the next game?
That's what they said yesterday but Donna said he won't play at all for BA.

On another matter, Buddy was leading rebounder. Putting aside the whole "who had that on their bingo cards?" thing, our bigs have to step up. Granted, Rak and Jimmy played far fewer minutes than Buddy so if you add their totals, it makes more sense.

I guess.

Will be interesting to see how hard we hit the glass tomorrow.

I was very impressed with Buddy. Coming off a game where he was 2-8 from 3 the night before in Vegas and then taking a redeye. I had extremely low expectations for him.

But if he is #1, then Eli is 1A. If both continue to play like that, then watch out. Both are tough to guard.

Our shooters have more range too. Buddy and Hughes can make shots from a few steps in from half court if they want. If teams give them decent looks from the corner or top of the key they'll shoot 65ish% like they did.

I expect teams will push them further and further off the 3 line and then I feel bad for their forwards and bigs having to deal with Malachi, McCollough, and Christmas with space near the basket.

Hard to see this team offensively getting shut down, will have to see what better competition does though.

Perkins not playing is a bummer but honestly the Starkey addition was huge and as long as Jamil Wilson gets here adding more depth and size it’s not a big deal.

Given the amount of shooters on this team the use of having mobile bigs with good size in the screen and roll offense is going to be extremely difficult for any of these teams to defend.

Mason just seemed patient to me and feeling his way through being on the court with this group. So many options and guys that are bucket getters on this team that he’s not as likely to stand out until he’s really needed.

Yeah Mason looks like some1 who isn’t playing anymore. Step slow with everything. Game appears too fast for him. Kinda disinterested. Hopefully just a bad day.

Louisville looked dreadful from what I saw and their bigs need to be less big at the buffet line.

Buddy was excellent but I think Eli is our best player and could be the best player in the tournament.
It was a weird game. Louisville was totally disinterested in the first half. Bad shots and no effort at all on defense.

Then they scored 26 points in 3 1/2 minutes! Harrell was an absolute beast.

If they came out with energy, they would’ve won, but they mailed it in.

It was really nice to be on the better side of a lopsided basketball win. Was even better that Cuse alum did much of the damage. Go Cuse!!
