Boston crowd

Hope so...I applaud all the Orange fans in Pittsburgh but there didn't seem to be enough of them to be a big impact. Hope the Orange is well-represented and loud in Beantown!

I'd up that estimate to 70%, at least for the 1st game - because Wisky or Vandy are too far and just don't have the alumni base.

I thought the crowd sounded significantly pro-Cuse and was glad to hear it. We earned it. And I think that is an underrated aspect of the game.

I think it will be a big advantage we get for the S16 game. And if someone knocks off Ohio St, the crowd will be 70+% for both games that would get us to the FF. Good advantage that SU deserves from a great regular season.

SU = 50%
OSU = 25%
Wisky = 5%
FSU/Cincy = 5%
Unaffiliated locals = 15%

Too bad the Zags didn't beat OSU they'd bring nobody and we'd own the arena.

You guys underestimate wisconsins traveling ability. Both they and pay could pack the place.

The thing is, even if we have 60% SU fans, the other 40% will all root against us. So it's going to seem like a split crowd even if the opposition is a mixture of Wiscy, Ohio State, FSU/Cinci, randoms, etc.

Sucks. I live in Boston but have to be in Denver for work this week. Otherwise, I would be one of the 50-70%.

I thought pitt would be better attended. It was a little better today though. I will be looking for a better turnout in boston.

I'm guessing 40% or so, if we're lucky. There will be a ton of Wisconsin and OSU fans there. Doubt there would be any Cincy or FSU fans, though. We could use a nice home crowd, though. That'd be great.

I'd think OSU might be rooting for us? I assume they hate Wisconsin.

Wisconsin, OSU, and Vanderbilt combine to crank out approximately 30,000 alumni per year. Maybe they all wind up in Memphis and Chicago or something, but that is a faaarr bigger alumni base that Syracuse is working with.

From the TV coverage it looked like there about 100 Syracuse fans in Pittsburgh. I was shocked to see only a rare speck of orange here and there and certainly the crowd had no positive effect for SU. Only when we were up 15 with 2 minutes left did I hear a LGO chant and the crowd was decidedly anti-SU in the first game.

I'm hoping Boston will be 100x better, but I'm not so sure. OSU's enrollment is triple the size of Syracuse and Wisconsin's is double.

Wisconsin doesn't have an alumni base?

I'm hoping to get another interview from MW -- "only 2x in my life did i turn around in amazement to see a sea of orange" (or something like tht)

I bet we get 50% of the crowd

Can you expand on that? Mike Waters said that?

I have found in my travels to NCAA sites that most fans support the other schools from their conference (with some exceptions for a specific hated rival like UNC fans rooting against Duke). But generally they root for other conference members. The Big East is kind of unique where most fans root against other conference teams most of the time. That's my experience anyway and I've been to several sites.

I think the SU alumni / CNY expat presence in the Boston area will push the crowd to over 50% SU.
