Brantley to Mizzou

Cue Go reminding us that Brantley was only going to be about as good as [random semi-marginal recent or current SU player] and that one player does not a class or team make or break.

This is what drives me nuts about Marrone not naming a replacement coach ASAP.

Granted it may not have changed the outcome, but at least you give the new coach a chance to make inroads before the dead period.

Doaust is the DL coach. I don't think they are going with a DT coach.

Don't presume to think you know what I think about this. And how would anyone know how good he is going to be? You must have me confused with someone else.

That's right, one player doesn't make or break a class or a team.

It sucks, kid looked to have some talent.

You seemed pretty certain last year about how good Kevin McReynolds was going to be when he signed with UCLA instead of us.

Yup. I'm absolutely pulling that kind of loser move. That just happened. I presumed based on past experience. I'm not confusing you with anyone else.

I don't care I thought he was going to suck. I'm glad he's not coming, frees up a scholarship for a bigger name :D

if you not an elite top 10 recruit then you dont know how the hell the kid is going to be...75% of it is the coaches who put him in the proper place to suceed... MPB or bust for me!!!!

This one hurts. Of the 3 "soft" verbals, he was the one I really didn't want to lose. Just looks like an amazing athlete for a potential DT.

It aint over til it's over though, so we'll have to see how things play out. If we end up with Pinnix-Odrick, I think that's a pretty nice recovery.

Remember the kid has to go back and convince his folks this is a good idea...maybe our last hope.

Big loss really too bad as DT's are so hard to come by. I would say he is one ofour top 5 recruits. As to JPO dont get your hopes up i think he ends up sticking with Rutgers.

He apparently already called the staff and told them he was de-committing.

Think his parents or maybe a parent were with him, but could be wrong.

What is so appealing about a crappy school in the middle of the plains?

Missouri provides NOTHING for their players, & Syracuse has better academics...

These kids are just foolish...

Mizzou has a pretty equivalent J-school, I thought

State schools do NOT compare to private institutions... Not even CLOSE...

Too bad -- this was the one kid I didn't want to lose but as others have said, one kid doesn't make a class. We move on

Mizzou has a superb J-school, respect.

If that's HB's dream, good luck to him. The key is learning to ask good questions.

Such as, why Mizzou? Where have they been? Why are they making me such a priority now? Etc.

To me he has the most NFL potential rare blend of size and athleticism, hurts to lose the kid for sure. I really do hate recruiting, it happens and is part of the business. Syracuse must continue to improve facilities as well as visits for these kids to continue to try and compete. Tough shot to the gut here... Like I said, in my opinion which means nothing he was the best verbal we had. Looks like he had a very mediocre visit here.unfortuante Next...

Or he was underwhelmed by the facilities. As IB has pointed out before, his H.S. locker rooms might be nicer looking and he found himself saying - "What". Some on here think thats silly but not everybody thinks and cares about the same things. I can tell you from having been in sales for 8 years, people base their decisions on emotions that at times can't be quantified.

the worst part is happening so late now its a dead period so we cant even reach out to try and discuss it.

May he and his teammates be cursed with 7 SEC losses per year.

Congratulations to Missouri. They will have a great rivalry fighting it out with Vanderbilt for last place each season in the SEC.
