I plan to try the legendary Cheeseburger sub tonight with 'The Works'.

They have done a great job prepping the building, I will say that for them...

I expect a full, detailed recap in the "my take" postgame. Pictures and everything. Don't let me down.

Bring your Lipitor my friend.

This is fantastic news! I can't make it over tonight, but I'll be making it mandatory for dinner tomorrow night during the football game.

If their subs are like the ones at the original subshop in Oswego (which I'm told they will be), then you're not going to be disappointed. I've eaten 1 or 2, or a 100.

Last night on the way home from work my husband stopped there hoping to pick up subs. He saw all sorts of people inside but they wouldn't answer the door when he knocked to find out even when they would open. Later last night they announced they served their first sub.

Bring your Lipitor my friend.

I was going to say he may need to call the Viagara hotline for an erection lasting longer than four hours..

Wait what?

Just picked up my dinner from there less than an hour ago. They did a nice job with the building inside. Doesn't feel like an old "fast food" place. Couple flat screen TV's and a nice atmosphere. Food was great. I didn't try the cheesburger sub today but I will hopefully before the weekend is over or by early next week at the latest. I have heard too many good things about it so I want to try it.

Little surprised they are gonna stay open to 2:30 am and 3am with this Liverpool shop. I mean not being in a college area not sure if that is going to be a money maker being open that late in Liverpool. But nice to know if I'm craving a late night snack they are open...lol

I will be including a stop by there on my next trip back to Syracuse, that menu looks great.

Yup. The place looks great inside. The village needed a good sandwich shop.

They definitely did a good renovation of that dumpy old eyesore burger king. I cant wait to try it

If it was biologically possible, I would conceive a child with the Cheeseburger Sub. It's that good.

thanks for info thats great for liverpool sure they had bk and mcdonalds and got heids but they have not had a place like that since tarby's burgers as for being open late the drunks from the retreat and cobblestone can go there..

Just had my first ever Cheesburger Sub tonight. It lived up to the hype! AMAZING!!
I think I may grab one on the way home, been meaning to get there this weekend

The wife and I got subs from there yesterday. Cheeseburger sub is as good as I remember from when I dated a couple of chicks from Oswego State 20 years ago.

I know what I'm getting when I return home in December

I used to get the hot pastrami after some beers across the street at Greene's Ale House. Definitely stop there when I go visit the family!

well add this to the list. The list of seemingly over hyped things, that actually lived up or exceeded the hype! Much like the hype of hearing about and then watching Michael Jordan live in Chicago in the 80's and finally seeing Bruce Springsteen last year after years of hearing about his live shows, this place is legit.

After all these years of hearing about this "cheeseburger sub" (thinking What is that really) from all the Oswegoians in my life from work, friends, SU tailgaters, etc. wondering if they were nuts thinking, seriously how could a sub shop in Oswego be THAT good. Well it was foreordained fate that I could finally sit and try on of these.

Wow and double wow. I stayed traditional with the basic Cheeseburger sub while the wife added Cheddar and chili to hers: basically as you know Tome it's some kind of sautéed ground beef on a long hoagie roll with "the Works" on it (melted provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, empire oil, hot pepper sauce, oregano, and sprinkles of parmesan cheese). What a cool combination that along with the roll which they toast so it crunches in every bite, both of these things of beauty were truly a gastronomic delight that was well worth the wait.

Also, just noticed, how appropriate the place is located on Oswego street. Very cool.

I really liked the Cheeseburger sub with the works. The ground beef is loose and mixed in with cheese, hot sauce, sub sauce, mayo and a lot of other delicious substances that are bad for you. If your heart is still fairly functional, I recommend getting one. I got my second upon my arrival back in Liverpool from College Park and it was a perfect way to end a long, most excellent road trip.

For those with bad hearts or concerns about waist size, there are lots of healthier alternatives on the menu. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and ever vigilant (one of them noticed I took a picture of the exterior of the shop and asked me why. "Are you from Oswego?"). If you crave a good sub, this is a good place to get that itch scratched.

Some pictures as requested...
