I plan to try the legendary Cheeseburger sub tonight with 'The Works'.
They have done a great job prepping the building, I will say that for them...

well add this to the list. The list of seemingly over hyped things, that actually lived up or exceeded the hype! Much like the hype of hearing about and then watching Michael Jordan live in Chicago in the 80's and finally seeing Bruce Springsteen last year after years of hearing about his live shows, this place is legit.
After all these years of hearing about this "cheeseburger sub" (thinking What is that really) from all the Oswegoians in my life from work, friends, SU tailgaters, etc. wondering if they were nuts thinking, seriously how could a sub shop in Oswego be THAT good. Well it was foreordained fate that I could finally sit and try on of these.
Wow and double wow. I stayed traditional with the basic Cheeseburger sub while the wife added Cheddar and chili to hers: basically as you know Tome it's some kind of sautéed ground beef on a long hoagie roll with "the Works" on it (melted provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, empire oil, hot pepper sauce, oregano, and sprinkles of parmesan cheese). What a cool combination that along with the roll which they toast so it crunches in every bite, both of these things of beauty were truly a gastronomic delight that was well worth the wait.
Also, just noticed, how appropriate the place is located on Oswego street. Very cool.
