Brent Axe on available seats for Sat, yikes...

The NYS fair had half the attendance it usually has this year and that was outside. I think at most we get 25K on Saturday. Accept the fact that the world has changed and will remain this way another couple of years.

Empty dome does hurt recruiting in my opinion but what can you do about it? Playing in a dome in an area of the country that doesn't want a surge works against us... But it's the reality of the situation and I guess you try to make the best of it... Those that feel comfortable I hope have a great time and make a lot of noise... Those that don't I understand...

No doubt it hurts with some recruits. However I would be positioning to recruits and their families that at Syracuse your safety is the most important thing to us. Show a picture of us masked up in a half filled dome vs packed houses with no protocols across the country to back it up. Advertise that those attending games have to be faxed or have a negative test. Sometimes being the only one has advantages too. We are not getting blue chippers so this could help with the types of players we do recruit.

That being said I can’t wait to be in the Dome on Saturday cheering the team on. Go ‘Cuse!

State fair attendance was down 40%… I’d wager we’ll see something similar here. If we’d normally draw 35k for rutty coming off the week 1 win, 60% of that is 21k.

Other then the “Big games”. As I surfed the college TV games there were a whole crap load of half filled stadiums. Not talking Wisconsin/ PSU and FSU/ ND but the middle of the pack FBS games. Heck Pitt had about 1/5 of the lower bowl filled. 25k is about it and that’s ok.

Last 15 rows are all blue to they haven’t been released. Looking at 25 k. But post covid with the restrictions which I understand what would u expect. No way I’m going to get my wife to agree to sit in a dome for 4 hours.
Seems to me with an ongoing pandemic you open those sections and encourage people to spread out. Strange decision there.

I always tend to watch that Ticketmaster blue/red dot picture before home games (except 2020 obviously). That doesn't look much different than any other year for an opponent like Rutgers.

Maybe it's people taking Covid seriously, but if we're 3-0, I bet the Liberty game (if they're ranked), and then the Clemson game won't have as many people worrying.

I think it's more the team coming off a 1 win season and playing Rutgers, who excites so few.

I assume people will try and spread out as there are always those sections that are jammed be it 20K or 45K in total attendance. Will be interesting to see if SU supports people spreading out or goes the opposite route.

I think in the upper deck for sure people will just naturally spread out.

Yeah my wife is 7 months pregnant. Under normal circumstances, she would be there on Saturday despite being pregnant, but I'll be surprised if she goes to any games this year.
Congrats to you both. When is she due?

Prognosticators expectations of the team and the Dome doing everything it can to ruin a fan experience and keep them at home, will obviously lead to this end.

I think the State Fair demonstrated that about half the public is back in. So for a “die-hard” event like season opener for football, I would expect most of our 20,000 regular die hards, and less than half of the other 12,000 - 15,000 tire kickers. Call it 17,500 plus 6,500 for a total of 24,000 fannies in the seats this Saturday.

Whoo Hoo!

I'm hoping a BIT higher but you may be right, I will say one thing...the win over Ohio probably will drive 5K of those 6,500 you say all alone.

What were the fair rules this year? Did they require proof of vax and negative tests as well as masking outdoors? A 'yes' to any of the questions would have a huge negative impact on attendance imo.

I completely understand the covid protocols (not trying to be politicall blah blah) , but it’s insane to me that they can’t offer onsite rapid testing. Finding a place for me to get tested before the game is going to be a complete nightmare. That has a huge factor in attendance. Also the fact it’s a nightmare to bring your kids , the people that don’t wanna get covid won’t go anyways and now those that would go don’t feel like dealing with the hassle vs just watching from home

I don’t want to get into a whole big thing over this, but as fans only (not getting into politics), it’s worth worrying about… If you think recruits don’t take notice of this stuff, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I absolutely understand that we are unique in having a Dome, but the optics of our peer schools having full stadiums with fans showing their faces vs what we have going on isn’t the best.

Winning is the ultimate fix though, so if Dino can deliver on that, the optics hopefully don’t matter as much.
were still in a pandemic so its not a surprise

on-site testing is a huge resource issue. Who’s going to do it? Also I’m curious if other schools do it because of the same issue.

Yeah - kids aside I cannot image who the unvaxxed person showing up with a ticket looking for a rapid test and how / where it's processed. Seems expensive.
