Bryan Blair officially hired as New Syracuse AD

I’m anxious about the way Syracuse.com is positioning it as Blair making the basketball coaching hire and that’s his first order of business. He’s a brand new AD here, doesn’t know the culture and the school yet, and yet they’re positioning it like he’s going to be making this seismic decision about the future of the school on his first week on the job. hopefully Wildhack, Haynie, key BOT members like Tirico, Lally and others will be closely involved in the discussion. Am I overreacting?

I had similar concerns and then realized that it must have been in the forefront of their minds when they hired him. There must already be a plan in place. No way they are starting over.

someone tell me if this is good or not

Well, one thing in his favor is that he's actually done the job before. He's not a TV guy, or a bowls guy.

We'll have to see if he carries 2 cell phones, and brings swanky Toledo luggage with him. LOL

Seems like Cuse prioritized football backgrounds for the AD hire (Blair and Carparelli)

That seems smart. That is going to determine seats at the final table. I'm glad we've been looking for someone to play that Game of Thrones.

Wow. So, is this better or worse than Carparelli? Please tell me the HC hire won't be out of left field too.

Maybe not as "connected" to the national players, but he is someone who has actually done the job before, and done it successfully, in a place without the most resources, too.

Carparelli seemed like a deal maker guy, to help negotiate bowl deals with the conference and TV coverage. It seemed like he was going to require a 2nd hire (some mentioned Reggie Terry for the role) to have someone with experience handle the operational aspects of the job.

This ai thing hiring now?
Drum Joke GIF

Really how do u not have ur stuff together for a HIGH paying job.

He's never done it before, and he didn't prepare properly.
He figured, "I'm the bowl guy; that's what they need".
No, they need someone to actually do the job.
