What a stupid comment. Kid is a high level athlete with at least dreams of playing beyond college, sees his opportunity severely damaged and makes a decision that he feels helps keep his dream alive and he is selfish?

Guess he should have stayed at Clemson, rode the bench and been there in case Lawrence gets hurt. Doesn’t matter that he did. Kid has to do what he feels is in his best interest.

He owes his first duty to himself, and his future.
Obscurity is littered with people who "took one for the team", while those favored by coaches reaped the rewards.
Dabo was selfish to not redshirt Lawrence. He wanted to make sure he got to use him all 3 years, instead of the kid playing 2 and leaving.

That was such a dumb thing for him to say

Dabo is dumb for rocking the boat. People can call him a good guy or whatever. You’re playing for the ship... just keep rotating QB’s

That just goes to show you how these athletes are viewed. They are only valued for what they can bring to a program. They are hardly even thought of as human beings by many. Dude waited his turn behind Watson, then was successful when he got his chance..then got passed over by a freshman.

Do they really want him to just call it a career? These guys aren't paid, so It's not like the pros where you can sit and get your money anyway. Blacklidge is an idiot.

He knew they were gonna rotate, he got his feelings hurt when he couldnt run out on the field first

When Dabo needed a win in College Station, it wasn't Lawrence that got it for them. Bryant didn't do anything to lose his job. I could see if he was playing poorly like Malik Rosier at Miami. The public pressure didn't help Kelly's case at all. People were waiting for him to fail. So yes, if I got replaced by someone when I did nothing to lose my spot, I'd take my ball home too. Happens in the corporate world all the time when you get passed over for a promotion.

Only Diablo could throw an all-american guy, who already has his degree, who is thought of as a leader and a role model, who happens to be African-american under the bus and come out looking good. The guy was 18-2 as a starter with 1 loss coming to Alabama in the playoffs and the other loss coming at Syracuse in a game where he was very injured and should have sat but Diablo thought they could beat the Orange with an injured QB plating at 70%. He was wrong and Bryant took a further beating as he wasn't really able to protect himself and they ended up losing the game with the unprepared back up QB.

He quit the team mid season. He did what was only in his own self interest. Both of those things are selfish. It's not even debatable.

The question is, were his selfish acts justified or appropriate? In today's day-and-age, I'm ok with it.

Explain why? Why is he a tool for looking out for his future? Would you leave a job where they trained you and suddenly you are offered a raise in pay from another firm? Would you then be a tool? The Tigers moved on from him. So he moved on from them.

The hypothetical you use is not analogous.

To be analogous, if you were demoted at work should you feel obligated to stay the remainder of your career despite the option of securing a better position at another firm? Would you be 'selfish' by doing it? Would your company demote you, if they felt they couldn't risk losing you?

Would Dabo or another college head coach stay as a coordinator or line coach if demoted during the season -particularly if they couldn't ever coach college football again if they did? (and they get paid) Bryant couldn't get another year if he played in another game. Can't blame Bryant for leaving. Dabo nor any other coach would risk doing it if they didn't feel that they could withstand losing him. Dabo benching him before playing in his 5th game, allowed Bryant the option to transfer which was the right thing to do. Was Bryant being anymore selfish than Dabo? Both are doing what they thought was best for their futures.

Dabo made a stupid decision and that kid is going to get a beating all season because of it. They will try to kill him in Tallahassee.

Dabo made a comment mentioned on air about the team knowing Lawrence was the betterQB. Bryant isn't coming back after that is said. I think this is all about Dabo's decisions and not Bryant's.
Would love to see this footage. Have not seen or heard one mention of this from clemson nation. And trust me, anything like this would get reported.

He sat for two years. I think that is enough.
