Btw... Who's our QB this weekend?

AJ has six interceptions half of which were misreads, including the 82-yard pick 6 vs NC State on a play he has seen a hundred times in practice. The LB blitzed and the DE fropped back in coverage and AJ threw it right to him. Wilson did a similar thing on the play where he didn't get the right play call from the sidelines.

The stated reason that Wilson got the backup nod was that he took care of the ball and knew the O better than AJ. I think this has turned out to be accurate.

AJ has an adequate arm. Up to about 20 yards he is accurate, but after that he is suspect. In the wind at Wake it was most evident. Wilson will not fit Lester's offense so, we are left with hoping AJ can develop. The entire season next year is in the hands of Lester and his QB. The D will be fine and we need to score points - desperately.

Not to mention that he has fumbled the ball more than four times. AJ has promise but is simply not big or strong enough at this time.

If the Offense is not option oriented the QB only needs to step up in the pocket and does not need to be a scrambler. As a matter of fact it is healthier that way!

Not true if your offensive line is not good and our line is pretty easy to beat.

Liked Kimble coming out of the spring game.

Like his mobility and his arm.

Hoping - really hoping - that Edouard can compete this spring.

He should recognize that there is a great opportunity waiting for him on the Hill.

The same holds true a potential recruit - I would think.

If the OL is not any good it really doesn't matter - they are all toast.

A few tidbits:

All 4 QBs have been injured this year.

Kimble didn't practice last week.

Kimble has been the most accurate in accuracy competitions this season.

What was Kimble's injury? I remember seeing him going to the locker room in the 3rd Q of the Duke game but never heard another word about it.

Long being a true freshman has been thrown into the fire quicker than he should have been and one of the hardest things for any qb is reading defenses and knowing when to get rid of the ball to avoid a sack...I see pros that screw this up. His inexperience and to a point his height hurt him in doing this and he has to learn how to read the pocket and the lack of pocket better when it breaks down.

As for interceptions for AJ and Austin...working with different receivers will screw up the timing and knowing where each one is going to go. One zigs and the other zags when X happens and we have an interception. This is why we see such a nice chemistry with AJ and West, they work together a lot. I thought Austin and Lewis had one too. The inconsistency of the receiver position has hurt these young qb's as well along with the obvious oline injury problems. When the qb is in trouble and is scrambling the receivers have to work and not glide like I've seen them do way too many times.

Wilson was hurt in that game and that was the reason Long became the QB, had nothing to do with a coaching decision, unless you think they should have played him while injured.
I understand he got hurt, but was he hurt for the next three games all which AJ started? I still feel that if the coaches thought he was better or equal to Long they would have played him in one of those games.

Yes

Interesting that Kimble will also probably play tomorrow. After seeing his running ability and hearing what Lester said about his accuracy, I am interested in seeing more of a sample size for him. Hopefully he can start some drives outside of our 2 yard line.

Coaches really liked him last year when he redshirted and was the favorite going into the spring behind Hunt. Unfortunately he aggravated a back injury and I think that hindered his development early this year.

he has a really flawed throwing motion, and looked very stationary in the pocket. Im sure hell be used as a running threat because he doesnt look like a very capable thrower

I don't see the hitch as that big of a deal as long as he puts the ball where it needs to be. Look at Kerry Collins at PSU. Unstoppable. And his throwing motion looked like Dan Quisenberry.

His first throw was a floater because I think he was nervous. But after that, he showed more arm strength than I expected.

We're unfortunately no longer a school where we can expect much from true or redshirt freshmen QBs (don't know when or if McNabb is walking back through that door). So we need to patient as they try to develop the young QBs. And we need to pray a lot that it works, ideally before their senior year.

Well. not quite like Dan Quisenberry!
