Buddy Boeheim ranks among ESPN’s top 2022 NBA Draft prospects

There are 60 draft picks.
Buddy is 73 on Jonathan Givony’s board.

All this means is this is Buddy’s last year.
He will have to show he can play some defense at the combine.
 
If Buddy makes it to the NBA it is a real tribute to his hard work. He has an advantage with facilities other kids do not have but he has worked his a** off to get to this point. So many people thought his scholly was nepotism. As is often the case on the boards like this so many people had no idea what they were talking about. I hope he has a wonderful career.
 
Just needs one of those offense first sort of teams to take a chance on him. Portland will probably grab him first round!

Buddy has more of a midrange game and overall is a better scorer , but I somewhat look at Andrew White as a comparison in the league defensively. White really struggles in that regard and it's certainly been hard for him to get much run beyond the G League.

Andrew White shot the ball better percentage wise than Buddy Boeheim. Buddy takes a lot of bad shots and doesn’t make them.
Andrew White took a lot of bad shots but. He made a lot of them. I would like to see Buddy actually shoot 40% from three and stop taking a lot of shots that aren’t good. He gets to take a lot of shots because we don’t give any offense to the bigs so the shots got to be taken by the guards and forwards.

I don’t see Duncan Robinson, Kyle Korver Steve Novak when I watch Buddy. Doug McDermott dominated in college his senior year That is what I want to see from Buddy.

Andrew White also never really handled the ball the way Buddy does and was spot up, off a screen . Bad shots for him were contested. Yes he made them but he was overall a more stationary shooter.

The point here is not about who was better at offense. Buddy is a better offensive player than White was at the same stage and yes White shot a better pct. Both are limited defensively in a mtm situation which is what Buddy will run into. He may have a step up on White in overall offensive game but a slight step down on D even.

I will say a McDermott like year is what we all have said without saying it. Big difference is McDermott got a lot of points along the baseline using his strength. That won't be Buddy and thus as great a year he may have it's an uphill battle for him. I think his work ethic and consistent improvement gives him a good shot but it will be tough.

What did Buddy shoot as a % after his bout with Covid? Andrew White also played as a 5th year guy at Syracuse. Let's see what Buddy can does as a 4th year guy. I think he is going to be really good this year. the 2 guard at Syracuse is set up to take a lot of shots and sometimes not very good ones. They get the ball at the end of a shot clock. We have had some really good 2's that would have had a higher % had they gone somewhere else.

This is no compliment but I don't think Buddy is a step down from White on defense.

Andrew White shot 41% from the 3 the year before he came to Syracuse. As well as 56% from 2.
He was a great shooter his last 2 years in college.

Buddy is a good player I would take Andrew White’s offense all day and every day before Buddy’s.

AW3 better shooter and more efficient scorer.

Buddy has taken more shots per game than White as well.

White made making tough shots look easy.
It’s why his percentages were higher.

Again no knock on Buddy I want him become more efficient.
He shoots 15 shots per game. Buddy had the most shot attempts in the ACC by 12 shots and he missed 3 games.
AG was 6th
QG was 8th.

We need to become more diverse on offense. Stop relying on a small number of guys unless they are elite.

Buddy is going to need to take a Doug McDermott leap his Senior year for me to see him as an NBA draft prospect.

Really? I seem to recall Buddy carrying us in to the tournament and to the sweet 16. Hmm. I also don't remember White getting Covid and missing time. I don't remember his team being shut down twice because of a pandemic. Once again, you can have White and I'll take Buddy.

Just a joke on them having a lot of players lacking in the defense department that's all. Buddy could be their Melo replacement!

I will take White and have the better player.

Buddy is good player but White shot the ball better.

I am not sold on Buddy as an NBA player.
When he was defended by Grimes he got locked down.
Grimes types are the rule in the pro basketball.

Andrew White got a cup of coffee in the league.

I will be surprised if Buddy gets that.
