Buffalo Bills 2025 Thread

In the history of the NFL, has there ever been a stretch like this where a team was a legit Super Bowl contender for this long (6-7 years) but didn't make a Super Bowl?
Before my time but I know the Oakland Raiders had a long run between Super Bowl appearances where they were contenders and didn't make it. The 1967 team lost SB 2 and the 1976 team won SB 11. In between these were the results:
1968: lost AFC title game
1969: lost AFC title game
1970: lost AFC title game
1971: no playoffs
1972: lost divisional round
1973: lost AFC title game
1974: lost AFC title game
1975: lost AFC title game

Ya at some point it's just too much. How about the one time we jump offsides (good signing Beane, ObanJoke) happens to also be the one play we actually recover a fumble...and the two had nothing to do with each other. What are the odds of that?

100%, didn't want to be that dude but after that sequence and then that fumble the next drive that miraculously got batted back to Nix you knew Buffalo wasn't getting a break and sure enough they didn't. People who scream the NFL is rigged may have a point because the odds of this sshit happening year in and year out and the odds of some of these individual plays has to be 1 in millions.

The whole key to the Cooks play is what would they have called if he never gets touched. If he simply had made the play and after taking steps and a knee and rolled onto his back slid a bit and then lost the ball getting up. They would have ruled it a fumble.

If they want to argue its not catch then explain how the last Denver play is a catch. he catches it takes 2 steps then 3rd step ball falls hits ground , he loses it for a bit and re grabs it

Off season priorities:
1. Wr1
2 wr2
3. Re sign cooks as number 3
4. Lb 1
5. Lb 2
6. SS1 - Rapp cannot see the field again as a starter
7. Rde 1… bosa was a one year deal right?
8. New oc? I dunno… how much is on Brady and how much is on the lack of talent? I am curious why they waited to the second half to go 3 te and non shotgun. Romo called it in the first half. Why was the first pass to a tight end in the second half? Also in the ot every first was a telegraphed run against a team sitting on the run. Brady seems too mechanical to me… he needs to make quicker adjustments. Also receivers seem to go to his offense and disappear. Ironic because he made his name at LSU w Jefferson and Chase and Burrows. But then again it’s not his fault the D can’t get off the field and give him the ball. This team puts up points against anyone… My guy says stick with Brady to not do a complete tear down.
9. New DC? Not sure it matters who the DC is if McD is the coach. But this is year gazillion and one where the Bills run D stinks and they can’t get off the field on third downs in the playoffs.
10. Re sign Tre. Between white and Benford and Hairston that is a solid db rotation.
11. Young LT. thet need to start succession planning over there.
13 kicker for the future.

This team has a lot to build on;
- cook
- good o line
- 3 solid te
- I think a lot of depth in the secondary especially since white is almost back
- solid to good DTs especially if Hoecht and Oliver can get healthy.
- most importantly the best qb in the league

See you guys in the Bills 2026 thread!

Unfortunately you gotta add DL specifically DE in that equation as its once again a fn mess. Rousseau and Hoecht (hopefully) return and Landon Jackson but Bosa is gone and so is the dude from Iowa. I thought Bisa played fairly well but he was a no show in both playoff games despite actually being healthy. We again need multiple DEs. DT at least looks to be in better shape.

Landon Jackson is still on the team?

So I wonder what annual rule change the NFL will make this off season because the Bills got screwed again.

Agree with you on Cooks and Tre, would definitely try and bring back both. Cooks with a full year of Allen could do some damage.

Biggest issues I see right now are obviously Wr but also safety, CB depth, OL FA and DE. LB is a sneaky concern to but there's at least bodies there though if they dont bring Shaq back they need another young guy because Milano and Bernards injury history's are way to much to ignore.

Safety Wr and DE I think are the 3 priorities. Bishop coming along means we dont need a full overhaul just a running partner. Wr I think is either a trade or all draft strategy. Not much there in FA and the dude from the Colts is gonna have a million suitors. DE room is a mess, no idea what the answer is there.

Landon Jackson is still on the team?

Didn't play all year until the Miami game and then promptly got hurt about 3 plays in and was gone for the year. Beans done great with late picks but man a lot of his mid round guys have been a disaster.

And Buffalo got 0 sacks in 46 Nix passes despite untold millions on the DL.
Yet another reason why the Beane ship has sailed in my opinion, so many millions wasted without production from key positions. Major draft whiffs and we’re in cap purgatory. Expensive contracts on underutilized players (Knox).

Coaching staff has its faults but the roster construction is indefensible.

Denver figured it out . Just throw it up for grabs . They’ll call it eventually
This is a very real thing that smart teams do when they're out of answers on offense. Especially at home. Have one of your WRs flail their arms and the crowd will boo no flag. Very likely you'll get the call next time. Specifically remember NE vs Jax in the Title game "oh we're down 14-0 let's launch a Hail Mary out of bounds for a 40yd PI". Boom 14-7, new game.

So I wonder what annual rule change the NFL will make this off season because the Bills got screwed again.
I honestly wish none of these ever happened. Fed up with Dbag opposing fans bringing it up, like it's somehow proof the league caters to us. "Hey the Bills sparked this marginal rule change which is meaningless as it's no more likely to help them than anyone else going forward". Great, sick burn? Who gives a ****.

How does the DC not know they’d go immediately after the new guy and give him some help?

This is valid for the touchdown on Dane Jackson, but Savage is a safety and was responsible for the other one. He overplayed the WR
