Buffalo Bills 2025 Thread

McDermott needed to go but they should’ve fired Beane first.

Pegula couldn’t run it back with the same leadership in year one of the new stadium after this season. Kudos to him for understanding that and pulling the trigger.

Problem is you’re less likely to get an established, capable coach willing to just accept Brandon Beane’s roster and drafting track record.

I would’ve canned Beane. And if I couldn’t get an established HC/GM combo I would’ve hired a GM, kept McDermott for a transitional year (SB or bust) and let the new GM find his guy.

Doesn’t make a ton of sense to me to keep Beane and let him hire “his guy” with his crap roster. Unless they’re gonna Doug Whaley him after the draft.

Nothing would surprise me in Pegulaville.
It's the classic case of "well ok now what ?" There are a half dozen other teams looking for a HC and most of the talked about candidates are very unproven. As Cheriehoop mentioned above, I hope the Bills have a specific guy in mind that can make a difference. Easy to make things worse.

Whoever the hire is the defense is very likely to step
back. I don’t think people have any idea at the job McDermott did with some very average talent on that side of the ball.
But he gets tight during nut cutting time. We just saw it. 3rd and 11 up 4 late and they simulate pressure (which had been KILLING nix) drop into coverage , and it’s a first down. Thats just the most recent example

The defense was a big reason they beat Jacksonville. Lawrence looked clueless the entire game.

This tracks. If Beane won a power struggle I suspect they’ll go rising offensive assistant versus someone like Tomlin. Not saying I agree or disagree but guess that’s the direction…

Would be a fit, Bills personnel matches what he wants to do on offense. Also, there's chatter that someone else is going to be GM with Beane being President.

I wonder if Terrance Gray gets promoted to GM, he and Kubiak crossed paths in Minnesota so there's an existing relationship there

I actually feel bad for McDermott . I was ready to move on from him but I still feel bad. I certainly wasn’t expecting him to be gone and beane to remain. Beane the genius that cut Ingram to sign slay and slay Doesn’t show then you have two TD scored on back up dbs in Denver that would have been behind Ingram on the depth chart.

Bills fans here know their roster far better than I do but I went over the last five drafts and was not all that impressed. Admittedly picking in the mid to high 20s is challenging but most of the drafts were mediocre. The 2022 draft was above average but since then average to below average. Too early to judge the 2025 draft but so far it seems meh. Should have let go of the GM. There are probably more viable GM candidates out there as replacements than head coaches.

I could see the Steelers hiring McDermott.
Yeah I think he'll get offers. He shouldn't just jump at anything though. Some jobs are better than others. Steelers would be a great opportunity.

Thats a pretty pedestrian roster without a qb.

I find this hilarious
There’s an X profile running with this Admiral typo
