Buffalo has a poll for "Which college is home to New York preeminent...

My lovely wife got her masters at UB. I was there in 2003 for the NCAA championship (on TV of course). I remember listening to sports radio the next day and they didn't even mention the game. They talked Bills and Sabres offseason moves.

Bills and Sabres are life.

I went to the Sabres vs Rangers game last night. The sabres are nearly 20 games under .500 and are the worst team in hockey.

I'd still say that they had at least 17,000 people at the game.

over 90% full.

Football maybe. Hoops is another story. I've met a LOT of people from western NY with no ties to SU who are huge Syracuse hoops fans. As stated in a thousand attendance threads, it's about winning. If SU football reeled off the kind of 6 year run the hoops team has been on there'd be a lot more fans in that area.
Yes. There's no pro team and SU is great. Just don't have enough time to devote to two football teams. I've done two games in a weekend before and with SU and buffalo, it's usually two too many

UB will have a very hard time ever breaking through there.
I just don't think they ever will unless they leave the MAC. Hopefully they can reach some bowls in the next decade

Now it's 70% Cuse 25% Buffalo 5% Neither

(THIS IS POSTED IN THE BUFFALO BUSINESS JOURNAL AND WE STILL HAVE 70%)

The question stated was SPORTS teams. Some of the comments act like its an academic survey haha.

CUSE is the predominant sports program in NY hands down. Not even close.

This reminds me when that one guy picked Siena as the top team in NY right before we went 28-3 and won the Big East.

As unlikely as that is, it is more likely than UB having the preeminent sports program in the state.

It was highly skewed toward buffalo early in the day when a UB guy here at work passed me the link.
Cuse nation got to work after we were made aware of it.

So the present numbers are off now as well, at least when looking at the Buffalo area.

Isn't the survey based on NYS's team? It isn't off and is still skewed in UB's direction. It was in the buffalo business journal lol. Syracuse is the best D1 program for bball and football in the state hands down. Not comparable.

WNY is incredibly stupid.
If the nation was put to a vote which basketball team had the best program...

...I wonder how many people in New York would vote Syracuse.

Yeah, I'm using it more to get a sense of WNY loyalties though.

Table Rock, the Brass Rail, cold pizza. It was all good.
And the Laughing Lion. When talking to high school classmates I used to have conversations that went like this:
Them: Where're you going to school?
Me: Hartwick
Them: Harvard!??
Me: No, Hartwick.
Them: Oh, Harpur (former name of SUNY Binghamton)
Me: No, Hart - wick.
Them: Oh, okay....where's that?
Me: Oneonta
Them: Where's that?

One of the prettiest areas in NYS.
It was pretty cool winning the national championship in soccer.
