Every once in a while I click show ignored content. In this case I was quickly reminded why I used the ignore button lol. “Syracuse is afraid of Buffalo” - pure nonsense. You have a lot more patience than I do to actually read this stuff for 9 pages lol.

Granted, I took advantage of the ridiculousness of this post to post my own ridiculous off topic stuff. Think that was several pages ago. This guy is STILL going on the same point. Amazing.

If people dont like a topic they can just not click on the thread. Its not ridiculous to suggest UB and SU player at least every couple years. Neither program’s in a place where it’d be a great idea though, so right now it makes no sense.

it is ridiculous to suggest SU is scared of Buffalo and that SU-Buffalo could sell out the Ralph, though.

Couscuse is trolling but the guy is an elder I am going to layoff.
If I am that old and care enough to post on Syracuse sports I will be lucky.
It keeps my brain from atrophying like most of the rest of the people over 40.

The Ralph’s not ridiculous. If it was advertised months ahead of time Buffalo/WNY people would buy out the tickets just for an excuse to tailgate. Im not kidding, it would happen. It’d be 60% cuse fans 15% UB students/Alum and 25% lunatic bills fans looking for something to do

Well... at least it would have been possible with us coming off a 10 win season with a lot of good faith. Theres still a lot of Orange fans in WNY and the Tier

Id predict 30,000.

You’re underestimating Buffalo, not UB but Buffalo itself.

Also if there’s any buzz to the Cuse team, there’d be 30,000 Cuse fans alone.

it wouldn’t be some soulless MetLife meetup. Western New Yorkers love sports.

We’d barely get 30,000 butts in the seats for Buffalo in the Dome.

Come on, you know that’s not true. If we can bring over 30,000 for WMU we can do that and better for a solid UB team.

after watching UB basketball at the dome I’m sure UB would bus over a strong showing as well.

I get it, there’s a variety of reasons not to play Buffalo. Fan interest isn’t one though. G5’s and smaller teams are scheduled on winnability and recruiting implications.

for good or bad, UB’s far more interesting in their current state than WMU, CMU and our saints in the hills at Liberty

Kind of disagree, when UB b-ball beat cuse in the dome there were MANY UB fans. Many locals are alums.
It was difficult meeting up on Marshall with the actives from my UB fraternity after that game. There was far too much blue on the hill that night

And that's what it's like in Columbus when UM plays there and in Tallahassee when Uf plays there and in Auburn when the Tide plays there. It makes for a real emotion filled day. I believe that's what it was like when Colgate played on the hill, before my time, and it was like that when PSU was a thing. I know UB isn't on par with those things, but it's the best we got around these parts.

Theres no comparing an upstate New York matchup with any of those. The Colgate “rivalry” existing well over 50 years ago.

Syracuse needs to get consistently good again and proper rivalries will develop. Pittsburgh, UL, NC State and others are far more appropriate.

Meh Pitt. UL trashy. NCSU hateful hill people. Also, Pitt has PSU, UL has UK and NCSU has UNC.

Regional rivalries died out. Everything’s based on national recruitment now.

Who do we view as our biggest current FB rival? Pitt? BC?

Regionally, yeah PITT and BC. Had we played Clemson tighter this year, something might have been brewing there. I hate NC State.

Obviously, neither Clemson nor NC State views us as their biggest rival, and I don't think that Pitt does either (Ped State or WVU?). I wonder if BC views us as their biggest rival?

BC wants Notre Dame but knows they aren’t their rival.
BC is a hockey school that’s biggest rivalry is Boston University in hockey.
If BC reached Al Skinner level in basketball again I think a decent rivalry could develop with them in FB and BB.
They are a private Northeast school with similar students as Syracuse.

Pitt could turn into a bitter rivalry if we win a couple in a row. They’re clinging to their recruiting edge.

It’s the best when the rivalry is equally contentious - but I don’t see it as necessary. No made up trophies either way
