Just had the Utah State defensive back get tossed for "targeting" and leaving his feet to hit a receiver in the end zone. I can appriciate the need to focus on player safety, but aftr watching replays it was IMHO a bad call to throw a player out of the game in the first quarter. It'll be interesting to see if a call like that affects a "big conference" game; and how the media reacts to it.

I can't believe they tossed him. That shouldn't have even been a penalty. You can't even hit a guy with your shoulder anymore?

I think that is actually part of the rule book, at least it is in the NFL, not to "torpedo" yourself, or something like that. If he had his head down, I do believe that is at minimum a penalty.
