I think this is the way for SU in the NIL era at center. We're not going to compete with the money that some schools can throw at 7' future lottery picks who average 15/9 before entering the portal. Find someone that can lock down the paint, is a plus rebounder, and plays with intensity. Don't pay the premium for scoring and shooting at the 5, that is available at other positions for a comparative discount.

What i love is that most if not all of the guys on the roster as of this writing have multiple years of eligibility left... I LOVE that...

Yeah, me too! Obviously we still have to retain them (if they turn out productive) but much easier to keep a guy than recruit a new starter. Now if a guy doesn't start and is looking for more minutes, then it could be a challenge.

Dual, I think / believe.

I think there has been some discussion that Tobiason and Doty might be able to pitch in to help with ball handling, but neither of those guys are true point guards.

Moesch is a PG, but I don't expect much from him in year 1.

Meaning that we enter the season rolling the dice with nobody who has started full time at PG in the past, or we bring in a guy [like Cox, just for example] to challenge for that starting role, or provide experienced depth spelling Dual if he's the starter.

I was just thinking that we need another ball handler. Of the guards, Dual, Tobiason, Doty and Anthony have some ability. I do question based on last season the ball being in Anthony’s hands.

Moesch haas some skills but his passing may be in question because his highlights show flip(ping) passes vice strong passes. He gets the ball to where he needs to. It just seems aa quicker defender could pick off the passes. In addition, he is a freshman and will make freshman mistakes. Will see how he plays as the season moves on. Right now, he may be the team’s best point guard.

So, definitely there is a need for another ball handler, preferably one can create shots for himself as well as run plays for his teammates.

Looks like a purpose built roster from top to bottom. Dual, Doty, White, are lock down defenders. Siby and Wilson are rim protectors with offensive potential. 3M is a pure shooter. Tobiason and hopefully Anthony are scorers. We could be a tough out on D alone. We will have positional size guys that rebound and attack. Offensive rebounding will be a key.

Gerry is going to make them defend and rebound. That will be our identity this season...I think. Fingers crossed that Gerry knows "good" when he sees it.

Im happy where we are at the 2 and the 3. As of today I’m happy with where we are at the 5. I think work still needs to be done at point. We need a starter there. And we need a back up 4 for sure. And likely one more forward that can play the 3/4

Folefac fills serval needs in the 3/4 area. I really think that’s where the focus will be the next few days.

Undersized? He's 255 and has a 7 foot 6 inch wingspan. Sometimes I really don't understand the hills you try to die on...

I like the pick up but I’m not sure that wingspan number is accurate. I think that’s Siby’s number.

Sign me up for this. Hopefully this is the plan. And the Guard should be more of an offensive threat, so it may need to be more of a combo guard type. Need someone to complement Dual, especially if scoring appears to be an issue.

If we don't get another PG, we may need to play Dual 20 minutes a game at the point and give Tobiason the other 20 minutes a game there. And god forbid any injuries happen to either of them.

yeah well go take a look at all the final 4 teams this year...they all had elite centers that were positionally tall and good scorers who scored a lot

so i get it...maybe its not possible at the moment to get those guys but last season was a clear refutation on your proposed strategy as being optimal

this current reality is just trying to make do with whats possible...not like this is option a...lets be real

No, he’s not. He’s anywhere from the 3rd to 5th best portal center in the ACC according to experts. Some schools don’t even have a center. He’s 40 pounds heavier and 2-3 inches taller than Folefac.
