Class of 2023 C Luke Wilson (GA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/21/26)

I mean the player has to want it too…

Yes, I totally get that. It has to be mutual.
Red was a better recruiter than Gerry. Still seems true.

We are assembling a team of promising back-ups and role players.
Red got a few stars, but had no freaking idea how to coach.

It's not looking good from a talent perspective as the last few places are filling up.

I don't see very much offense at all, and I only see one guy who might be considered a guy who you can count on to get you a bucket.

Teams need 3 or 4 guys that can offer that.

We might have Kiyan Anthony grow into that, but that would still only give us two, maybe three with MMM.

This is a really odd statement, especially after we pretty much cornered the market on 6'5" guards in the portal.

Let me rephrase that:

"How many UNDERSIZED guys can you have at the same position?"

I'm obviously concerned about our big man rotation and interior defense.

He has stocked the cupboard at the 2/3.

And I'm sure you are one of the guys who lectured us all about how teams don't need big men anymore, because that's not how the game is played anymore, right?

Do you think those kids he's playing against in the Sunbelt are as big as P5 players?

He's shorter than most of the centers I see him playing against in his App State clips.

Are all those guys unknown 7 footers?
This is the same league the kid from South Florida(Nelson) came from that everyone loved and he put much worse numbers than Wilson in that conference 40 pounds lighter. This year Nelson had 22/9/3 against Louisville and 25/12/2 against Bama. If you can play it doesn’t matter what conference you were in.

I posted this in response to another person, but I would respect your take on this starting lineup:

PG - Dual
SG - Tobiason
SF - Doty
PF - Sadiq White
C - Luke Wilson

That's the lineup. Any thoughts?

Do you think that lineup makes the top half of the ACC?

Do you see enough offense there?

I see ONE three-point shooter among the 5 starters.
Have you even looked at the ACC rosters for the bottom 8 ACC teams? There’s not much there. The top 5 ACC have more firepower on paper so we’ll see and then the middle of the ACC is all over the place.

We are not competing against stacked elite 8 or even sweet 16 rosters GMacs first year. He has to fix the mess left of him.

It’s a 76 team tournament and there will be 9 ACC teams that get bids. We will be one.

He’s got 11 guys in like 2 weeks with a brand new staff lol

My point being that you can't take 2 guys with the same build.
They chose Wilson. They would be stupid to take Folefac now.
Folefac was the better player, but they couldn't close on him.
That's why they took this guy. This means Folefac is out.
I hope they have another center in mind, because this guy should be Sadiq's backup at the 4, not our starting center.
Folefac is the better player based on what? That's a wild statement.

What do you like best so far?
I see some good pieces.
What do you like?

I'll weigh in.

I like the defensive potential of the three perimeter players that I envision will start.

I like that Tobiason and Doty are prove, versatile scorers that we can build an offense around.

I like that we have three centers that all seem capable.

I like that Wilson and Goodrick have good low post scoring capabilities.

I like that we got White back, because I think he was the returnee with the best skill set to fit what GMAC indicates he wants to do.

I like that we have decent depth, with nine guys in the fold so far who can play.

I liked it. We dipped into the international market, and reeled in two players who are NBA prospects.

As for the rest, we won't know until we see them on the court, how the shooting will be, whether they have complimentary skill sets or just a bunch of mismatched parts, whether McNamara is a plus coach compared to Red, etc.

I now fully expect that we will have Folefac on board by the end of day on Wednesday.

If anything, Siby and Moesch are the guys with the "same build."

Reminder - Gerry is never going to have more money than he gets this year.

So far, he has bought a bunch of really good role players, but nobody who looks "can't miss".

His offense looks a lot better than Wilson, don't you think?
Tell me why Wilson is better?
How much better is the comp at App State vs. Siena?
Neither one of them can be considered "tall".

Again with the absolutes. You have no idea how much money he will have in the future. I’d argue this may be the least amount of money he has to work with if we make the tournament. Success on the court will bolster donations. This year the donations are for the potential, if he wins the money will only grow.
