Class of 2023 C Luke Wilson (GA) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/21/26)

They look like pretty much the same kind of player on film.
Both are low post scorers, thick, and a bit undersized.
What makes them look diffrent to you?
They both are limited to being low post scorers.
Neither one makes a three in any of the film I've seen, or even a midrange shot.
Apparently you didn't see Siena vs Duke. Folefac was 2-4 from 3.

My point being that you can't take 2 guys with the same build.
They chose Wilson. They would be stupid to take Folefac now.
Folefac was the better player, but they couldn't close on him.
That's why they took this guy. This means Folefac is out.
I hope they have another center in mind, because this guy should be Sadiq's backup at the 4, not our starting center.

To those complaining about not being tall enough - Houston was like 90 seconds away from a natty with a lineup 6’8 and smaller only two years ago
True. But they were also extremely athletic and very good shooting team. They were an outlier not the norm.

The Spurs tallest player right now in an NBA game is 6'7".

We've also got Siby with great length and defensive promise paired with bicep-curling T-Good.

Love where we sit in the 5 spot honestly. Considerable upgrades from last year with respect to Kyle's defensive game.

OK, so let's say Dual starts at PG, Tobiason at 2G, Doty at SF, Sadiq at PF, and Luke Wilson at Center.

Tell me what you really like about that team.

And let us know if you think there are any weaknesses.
I think first, your number one weakness is the Euro who shoots 49% from 3pt range is on the bench.

A lineup with Dual, Tobiason, MMM, White and Wilson is a very good defensive one, with at least three plus defensive starters, and possibly two elite ones. You have a whole lineup of players that can get you a steal, including Dual who is elite at forcing turnovers.

On offense, you have a little off everything. You have two very good shooters, one elite. You have four who are at least a threat from 3 pt range, depending on your opinion of White.

You have two players that can get to the basket and finish, one huge post up center and a power forward who can shoot a little and post up a little.

Still, looking at weaknesses, only two guys too be afraid of from range, a nondescript offensive point guard, and two bigs with medium at best offensive games.

The lineup as constructed now is telling far too much on untested players improving dramatically year over year, or performing really well in their first taste of the ACC.

I feel much better watching Wilson play a bit, and at least we have three competitive centers, one of whom is long limbed and bouncy, the other two who have spent many hours in the weight room.

The team right now has far too many questions to be answered... But Wilson transferring injected a while lot more certainty. We aren't going to be pushed around consistently with him out there. I was really worried about another roster with the biggest players listed at 235. We have three guys taker than our tallest rotation player last year, and two heavier than our biggest on the entire roster last season. That's a very good thing.

I made this same point last year, and was equally criticized for it.
Let's remember this, shall we?

I haven't read the whole thread. I watched the highlight video posted early. I like his physicality and his footwork. He seems to have good touch off the glass. I'm not confident his shot blocking will translate, but that doesn't bother me. I like him.

Decent hops for his size and long arms. Some of the rim protection should translate

Lack of height was not the reason we didn't win last year. We were plenty big enough to win enough games to make the tournament. Being disorganized on offense, terrible substitution patterns, and giving up on the defensive intensity we started the year with is what sunk last season.

Late to the party today but love this pick up! Beef down low and a solid all around player who will benefit working with AO.

Also, holy crash out happening in this thread!

HM I think means high major...not sure if that was answered yet or not.

Lets spend some dough on a PG and get Folefac and anything else is gravy! Gmac and staff are doing a heck of a job so far IMO.

Truth always lies somewhere in the middle.

I think you’re foolish if you think our current roster is elite. I think you’re also foolish if you think that there is no value in some of the guys we have brought in.

As AZorange said… nobody knows anything. Outside of maybe a handful of teams, everybody is moesching (see what I did there) a completely new roster. Not every addition has to become a topic of ncaa tournament or a potential doom or gloom outlook from the same posters on either side of the aisle here.

It’s tiring. We know your agendas.

We were a 1 seed with a 6'9 260 pound center, and we had a redundant player in 6'8 240 pound power forward. That team did in fact lose to Le Moyne though.
Yup. Another outlier with one of the best freshman ever. Any team that plays small ball needs something else that makes up for the lack of size.
