Class of 2017 C/PF Moustapha Diagne (NJ) to Western Kentucky

Big next few days for Moustapha and Pope John. Tonight is I believe the final of the Battle of Villages tourney in Florida where they hook up with Tampa Prep. On 1/2, the tough road continues as they host Gill St. Bernard's and Mr. Battle, although Tyus might still be coming off a minor injury. At first, I thought they would have a cake walk going into league play, but still have to face St. Benedict's Prep, Linden and RC.

What's good is that he's putting up big numbers against the best big men FL has to offer that are ranked top 25 in the 2016 class. Yesterday it was against Dewan Huell, and tonight it'll be against Juwan Durham.

Battle still hasn't played this season yet. No date on his return unfortunately.

Pope John wins big 66-40 over Tampa Prep and Juwan Durham as Francis mentioned, a quality up and coming big.

Lawd av mercy, he did it again!
17 points, 15 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and a steal.
I guess he wants to be consistent, but that's just creepy!

Had rebounds of 16, 14, 15
Had points of 16, 16, 17
Again with the 3 dimes and blocks, pretty close to identical numbers each game. And the 1 steal :)

Who is this guy? Batman? I also read through the coach's wife's twitter that they outscored 3 state champions 3 games in a row now by a combined 57 points. Take that, Southerners!
Btw, I love that he dishes 3 assists with regularity. This is a guy who is playing center the majority of the time.

Diange is going to shock the sheet out of the fans here that really don't follow recruiting. He is a bit under rated overall but the big thing they won't expect is how skilled and physically ready he is compared to most BiG guys coming in. His rating is almost 100% based off on court performance rather than potential or WOW plays.

Truth
brought to you by jordoo. The opinion of the poster is not necessarily that of the board in its entirety. But it should be. ;)

I'll agree on this one issue! Be warned though that many of my opinions are well on the iffy side. :(

Somebody on the main board was calling him raw last week lol. I didn't even bother to respond. They'll all learn!

Would love to see some video of him at this tourney.

But for now, from a few games ago:
I only got 2 minutes in so far, but couple of nice passes. One nice power move in the post, but he really runs the floor out there when the opportunity presents. Very agile post and he'll have his due in a few years.

And some great passes mixed in there, both on the outlet to break and a couple in the half court.

Couple of other things. Again, he looked up and made a couple of key passes late, had two emphatic rejections and one was a Hak deep baseline block. But he didn't do a good job of boxing out, gave up a few bad put backs. Of course they don't show the defensive rebounds on a highlight reel. ;)

not worried about his rebounding one bit red says he thinks he going to be a ok shot blocker but a excellent rebounder.

I did respond. I think it was two3zone.
Yeah I saw it. First he says he's raw, which is the last thing anybody that has seen him play would think. Then when you tell him to check out some film, he says "well it's only against HS kids." So basically whenever anybody thinks like that, they already know it all(in their mind), so it makes no sense debating it with them. Which is why I didn't bother to respond.

I admire your restraint.

Maybe he just likes it raw like O.D.B.

FINAL: @PopeJohnBball defeats Gill St. Bernard's 65-52, Diagne w/ 21 pts #NYJO #NJhoops

Still no Tyus Battle for GSB. They're still rolling with the day to day. Hope it's nothing too serious going on with him that they've been keeping on the low.
Looks like he had another stellar defensive outing, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks and 1 steal to go along with his 21 points. Moustapha also had 2 assists. The consistency in his rebounding these early games is just amazing. I think that 14 rebounds is the lowest in his last 5 games and most if not all were 16 or 17 boards.
