Class of 2017 C/PF Moustapha Diagne (NJ) to Western Kentucky

Chuwku?

Is he developing? He's in year 3 and averaging 6 pts and 6 boards in nearly 30 mpg. His per 40 min numbers are actually lower than what he was at as a Frosh at Prov. He's obviously contributing more than he was last year, but it would literally have been impossible for him not to.

PC per 40m at Providence: 10.7p 9.9r 0.6a 2.7b 1.7s = 25.6+ 2.0mfg 1.9mft 2.3to 7.5pf = 13.7- = 11.9NP 6.8OE 5.1FG
PC per 40m at Providence: 4.4p 10.7r 0.7a 5.2b 1.1s = 22.1+ 1.1mfg 3.3mft 3.7to 5.6pf = 13.7- = 8.4NP 0.0OE 8.4FG
PC per 40m at Syracuse'18: 8.4p 9.5r 0.5a 4.0b 1.1s = 23.5+ 1.8mfg 1.5mft 1.7to 4.1pf = 9.1- = 14.4NP 5.1OE 9.3FG

In most stats he's returned to the norms he had at providence after a poor performance last year. But he's blocking more shots and committing way fewer fouls than he did at Providence. He's making fewer turnovers and his free throw shooting has improved slightly. I see at least an upward trend there.

Agree with all. Looked at those same numbers. Would imagine that everyone would be disappointed in the development there between year 1 and year 4.

This is only PC’s second season on the court. You cannot possibly include last season’s stats when he played 3-4 games before injuring his eye (he still played a few games after that but couldn’t see!)

I hate the per 40 mpg stats. I don't think they are a realistic reflection of anything. If a guy has a certain level of production in 25 mins of playing time, he also has 15 minutes of rest that may factor into him being that productive over 25 minutes. Now play him 40 minutes, he doesn't have the rest and his actual productivity may decrease and he may not even achieve the stats he did when playing 25 minutes.

Now comparing what he did at Providence to what he is doing at SU is a bit of a fool's errand as well. We play entirely different styles. Do both programs use the center position in the same manner? Does the competition each team faces roll out the same level of player at the center position.

From an eye test perspective, I see marked improvement in Chewy from entry into our program and now.

Is he a polished dominating center? Absolutely not.

Is he a lot better than he first suited up for us? imho, Absolutely!!

Does he have two years of eligibility left or will it only be one after he has to sit out a year for transferring?

Crazy to think I would take him!

I'm not saying we would, but if the pre-existing relationship is compelling to JB -- would make sense on a one-year rental now that Oshae is gone, given the uncertainty around Sidibe.

Wouldn't tie up a scholarship beyond this upcoming season, so no long term implications on that front.

We dodged a bullet. Maybe he can transfer to where ever "The cat catcher" transferred to.

I have to think theres a difference between recrutuing a 17 year old with potential and a 21-22 year old who hasn't seen the court at a mediocre mid-major.

Disagree. While his playing career hasn't panned out, the kid has been a big part of his community (see link below). Many don't give back and he has.
