Class of 2023 C William Patterson (NY) COMMITTED/SIGNED TO SYRACUSE (2/20/23)

The zone has become the Albatross of Syracuse basketball.
Oh, to have a line up like this again playing The Zone in the Dome. Check out the starting fives PPG.

1988-89
"The Orangemen would win their next three games, including a big win over the University of Kentucky. On February 28th, Syracuse played Connecticut in the Carrier Dome for what would be a night of record breaking. Sherman Douglas would break Dave Bing's all time school scoring record early in the game. Later in that same game, Douglas would break the NCAA all-time assist record with a pass to Owens, as the Orangemen easily beat the Huskies.

They would stumble against unranked Boston College, with a 90-87 loss, before meeting Georgetown for their last home game of the season. A NCAA record crowd of 32,683 showed up to watch another memorable Syracuse/Georgetown battle. The game became a footnote in Syracuse lore when with four minutes remaining in the game, Syracuse fans threw an orange and then a cup of ice on the floor resulting in a technical foul on Boeheim. Boeheim grabbed the stadium microphone and announced to the record crowd "No more stuff on the court or I'm going to ask the referees for a technical foul. I don't care about this game. No more stuff on the court."[1] Boeheim already had two technicals at that point, and a third would mean his expulsion from the game. Fortunately the fans behaved for the remainder." orangehoops.org

Shouldn’t need a bag for this one.
It's like Oprah. You get a bag, you get a bag, you get a bag. EVERYONE gets a bag. Some are huge satchels and some might be that little bag that you get at CVS when you pick up a prescription. But it's still a bag.

A little surprised he isn’t ranked at all considering he has offers from Ok State, TCU, Syracuse and Rutgers.

If D’oh!n and Toad did hoops crootin,
this kid would be a 5* given the potential SUNJ lean.

And then immediately downgraded to 3* when he signs with Cuse.

I respectfully disagree with that. He is not ready to play big minutes as a freshman. He would actually be well served to go up against Jesse in practice every day.
I don’t know if there will be a scholarship available. If everyone comes back and Adams commits, I’m not sure how the numbers look. Obviously, I’m being optimistic everyone returns.

Allot of people thought Brown would not be a good pickup or able to get first year minutes and hey he is. Not saying this guy will be the same but folks shouldn't be saying he can't either. If he ends up committing, let's just see how he does.

Good point. To think that Maliq was basically an afterthought is kinda ludicrous now.

Like every year, people will be leaving early.

Jessie is gone, Torrance?, Williams for sure, Joe? We will have at least 2 openings.

The numbers always work themselves out.

I mean, it’s been a rarity that J-Bone even carries a full 13 legit scholarship hoopers -
Most years a walk-on gets awarded an extra one
(or son of a former great who was effectively a walk-on gets one as a courtesy).

Whomever we may think is leaving or staying, there will likely be surprises in both directions, although more likely in being an extra guy (or more) departing.

It’s the way of the world - and the Portal - these days.

This is Griffs guy right here. He really thinks he could be fantastic and has been on him for a very very long time. The Jesse thing has nothing to do with his decision trust me. And don’t even need Adam here. His relationship with AG is Better than any other coach in his recruitment. Would be a good pickup and not a huge project

Does he start for his high school?
