Yup. I loved the quotes from Steve in the article too. He knows how tough it can be. The emotional piece is harder than the physical.

Being away from the team makes it even harder. Having guys there with you and encouraging you is helpful. Luckily it didn’t happen intraseason so I imagine he should be able to travel and be with the team all year too.

You’re certainly entitled to your thoughts. I don’t believe we’ve ever had a guy with mediocre stats at a mid level program become someone who produces “at a high level”. But I guess we’ll see.

I definitely want to see him offloading weight on that leg, It was a little elevated. In any event I trust he does not do too much especially right now even though he is immobilized. Rest is critical, I am unequivocally sure they are telling him that as well as elevation.

Why is that? Maybe a coach expressing a form of a bit more active empathy to ensure he remains encouraged and committed to do whatever he can to be ready to go the moment he is fully healthy again. Just remember that this injury happened to him when he is essentially a High School senior in his first spring with the football team. It’s not like he is an upperclassmen who has proven it on the field and knows what success at the level he was preparing to be at looks like. Even with all the accolades he’s gotten up until now.
