Can somebody name one game in the last

The real problem is Lester. His offense just doesn't work at this level. Players are too fast and too disciplined for his misdirectional type plays. There is a reason no one else plays it.
Ouch. Geez, Crusty.

If Shafer gets another year, will he stick with that offense? What does he say to Coyle about the changes he will make to improve?

3 years where you said this program is really clicking and moving in the right direction? One freaking game where the plan was great, the adjustments were great, etc

Minnesota is the highlight of Shafer's career. MY point is how can anyone make a case that he has demonstrated that he can actually be a HC at this level or that progress moving forward is even a possibility?

Its crazy to think 4th year will be any different. I can name 10- 12 games from Marrone's first 3 years.

Defending the man is very very easy the coach is almost impossible and I think many are blinded by this.

There is no question in my mind that Doug Marrone towers over Scott Shafer as a HC.

He had true gravitas.

Scott does not.

I feel comfortable suggesting that Marrone never had the talent level - top to bottom - that we have this year. I may be wrong about that, but that's my sense.

Eh, that's a little overplayed.

Against UofL we started 3 seniors and 2 juniors on the OL.

We started a Junior and very experienced Sophomore at WR, and a Junior at TE.

12 of the 21 RB carries went to experienced Sophomores and Juniors.

We're young at QB and one halfback. But the rest of the O isn't uniquely young by modern college football standards. But we're very experienced on the line and at the receiver spot.

For me, the extraordinary youth on defense has been a primary problem.

We have just been unable to get off the field in crucial situations. There have been way too many long drives against us this year.

A better defense wins at UVA, at home against Pitt and probably at USF.

The offense was good enough in my judgment to have won those three games - and with those wins we probably go 7-5 and to a bowl.

Without the freak punt turnover and the out-of-bounds hit on 3rd-and-a-mile, I believe that the Orangemen would've beaten the Bulls. That's what it seemed like in the stands anyway.

this was me year three of grob thinking more time was only fair, stats be damned. Don't want to repeat history and ignore the evidence this time around with the definition of insanity in the backround. As I posted elsewhere this is more likely to end like gerg vs. mac if year 4 is granted. When OPA and GO96 are on board that says something.

It's time. And the good news is that knowing he's a good person, it's nice to know he's set for life financially and will get picked up pronto somewhere as a DC so in the big picture he'll be more than fine. I'll go and support next year regardless but in my head this time around I'll KNOW it's delaying the inevitable.

I've never said I want him gone, because how this year unfolded was expected, at least by me.

I think this team can be good next year, if they get some coaching positions fixed.

Agree with that.

Im not sure that this is correct. I actually like this O and i think that as the kids get older and more comfortable with it that it might be difficult to defend. What i dont like about it is that it puts way to much emphasis on the QB running.

If we could have Dougs planning and game day and HCSS recruiting that would be one heck of a coach

Personally, I think it is academic, but for sake of conversation, next year might even be worse with so much film available now and a less experienced OLine. You actually identified the greatest flaw. Take away Dungey and we don't have a lot left.

Maybe some of the new recruits could help who knows.

I like the offense as well.

There have been times when I have truly enjoyed watching Dungey et al. .

Wow. You must have really liked McDonald's then as it was better in just about every measurable.
I think Dungey is a special player who would do better in a spread without getting killed.
