can we pull off 4-2

I know you can't have it both ways and we easily could have lost to Bryant/Buffalo/Northeastern, but grrrrrrr that stupid home Pitt loss being a W would really help us right now.

Looking at the Bracket Matrix, none of the brackets were updated today. Looks like all or almost all were updated before the SU victory over NC State on the road. As of then, SU was only included in 2 brackets. But I spot checked about 10 of them and SU was listed in the last 4 out or the next last 4 out in 9 of the 10.

Anyway, if we finish 4-2, I think we will be in just about everyone’s bracket. Doesn’t matter which games are wins or losses. Joey is so bad he doesn’t count.

I would think if we win a game in the ACC tournament too, we should be a lock. That would be 16 wins for lock status. Losing any more games, especially home games, would really hurt our chances.

So we pretty much have to beat BC and ND at home, and find a way to split the 4 other games (at Duke, at UL, at GT and home against UNC). It is going to be tough and require sustained good play. Something this team has not been able to do so far this year.

I worry about the strength of our resume. We have zero Quad 1 wins and two Quad 2 wins. I think it's very important that we beat some combination of UNC and Louisville.

It’s going to take a lot to get into the field.

We have 1 quad 1 win right now against Virginia Tech.

We are 1-4 against the toughest teams on our schedule.

Only have 2 road wins including one over Boston College who sucks.

4-2 might put into consideration but it doesn’t put us in.

Good wins matter more than just total wins this season.
Providence is 10-10 and not in the tournament and off the bubble as well.

They have wins @TCU, @Creighton, @Seton Hall and several bad losses well the committee is going to reward a team that has those road wins over us with more wins and not much impressive stuff on the road.

Winning games keeps our winning season streak but the ACC really is down this year. We need better than 4-2 to get in.

IF we're competitive on the boards, we can beat every team in the conference except for maybe Virginia. It seems to always come down to that. That's a big if, though.
I think Florida State would kill us.

You didn't answer the question I asked.

Since he is in denial and trolling, I'll answer for him. (And I know you know this) He is not even close. If I had to pick 1 player to do without, out of the guys who see action, I'm going with Sidibe. The excuses a few come up with for why we have been mediocre (at best) is comical.

4-2 beating Duke/NC (looks good on paper) and a win in the ACCT i think gets us to the brink of the tourney. I do think the tournament may give us the tie goes to the runner with SOOOO MANY legacy programs not there this year.

This tournament NEEDS blue blooded teams in this tournament. A tourney without UNC/Duke/Kentucky/Syracuse does take alot of eyeballs away.

IMO not having Sid has been a huge. He is/ was a very good rebounder and decent on defense. Not the most explosive guy but smart, could run the floor (cover the wing). The end of last year he has some monster games and double, doubles. It also gave us 5 more fouls down low and someone to set picks and get some buckets on offense. Was he the best player on team, probably not but is the center in football the best player so other can do their job? I think we need to throw Jessie and Frank into the mix even if for 5 minutes a game, each.

Sid means Marek doesnt need to play center 35 Min a game either.. he could play 10-15 and 10-15 at forward so that rotation gets better as well. It makes the center better but helps everyone else too.

Even 5 min a half would make a difference

4-2 is going to be extremely difficult and it won't be enough to get us in, our resume is very weak. We are really up against us this year.

Hmm. That's a good point.

I will just say the tourney selection process this year moreso than any other year will be very different / hard to assess. So many data points that are inconsistent not only as a whole in 2021 vs prior years, but from team to team. I very much relied on trends in making assessments in prior years. Just very hard to do this year. Hard to make anything close to a definitive assessment of what Syracuse needs.

I will say as a general point people tend to overrate what Syracuse needs to get in the tourney at this point of year (post 2015). We tend to have squeezed in on March 15th, by accomplishing less than people thought was needed at February 10th.

I will probably start a Bubble Discussion thread shortly for all to discuss. I have less passion for college basketball right now for some reason. The first time it crossed my mind if Syracuse was playing this week was this morning when I saw we won against NC St.
