When he gets back, the line is going to be pretty damn good.

QB sneak behind Macky vs USC scores. Who saw that coming.

Macky was like a turnstile for the first few possessions, but he settled down and played pretty well i think. I dont recall many jail breaks up the middle.

My problem with Macky isnt that he isnt any good (i think he isnt, but others who know more than me say he's alright, so he likely is), its that our offensive line is anchored by a player who came in to long snap and wasnt even an All-Section III calibre player in HS. I know SU needs diamonds in the rough, but this is a tough way to go about building a team.

For comparison sake, that USC TE who shrugged off three SU defenders before scoring, who had not been heard from all game, was the former #1 TE recruit in the country.

Marrone continues to play guys he is comfortable with over higher ceiling players. While that will work against Tulane and Colgate, he will never beat a top flight BCS team that way.

Not sure if I understand what you mean. Macky is experienced, physically strong, and really smart. He's pretty not bad.

Otherwise, what do you mean "comfortable with"? We're rotating in at least five players at DT and three at DE. We're playing at least five linebackers, 3 CBs, 3 safeties, several TEs and wideouts, two running backs, and seven O-Linemen.

The team has played way more players than in the past couple of years.

Nope. Walls & Jones did not play today. Again.

Macky is tiny, there really is no way around that. Phillips and Trudo both strike me as higher ceiling guys. Wilkes has a lower ceiling than Eskridge. Its pretty apparent. Smith is pretty average at everything. Moore strikes me as having more play making and natural running ability (and Gulley obviously does). Broyld is the best athlete on the team (I would say its a landslide but Shamarko's a stud). He should be on the field every down on offense.

I agree with you that Marrone is trusting his athletes more this year than ever before.

Not according to the SU Athletics participation report.

Then he was in for a play that get off. Rob Welsh was also on the field for a play in the last thirty seconds. Not sure if he lined up at end or in the middle.

I think Phillips was playing tackle in the spring only because they were so short in linemen.

From what I saw, Macky is miles better than Phillips.

That's fine. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I dont want people to think that i dislike macky. I have a ton of respect for the kid. I also dont think he is starting because of his last name. I think Marrone likes his smarts, work ethic, and quickness. I would prefer a mofo that can move a 300 lbs tackle when push comes to shove.

As an SID who keeps stats and does those participation reports, I can tell you that you shouldn't take the immediate box score/participation report as gospel.

And the PS (or DO? I don't remember) had several tweets mentioning that both Walls and Jones were in the game.

I dont remember walls, but Jones really stands out because of his long hair. Bromley also stands out because he is a in beast who will be playing on sundays in two years. :)

I really don't get the fascination w Moore. Granted he hasn't played but I have to think there is a reason. The reason broiled is not in on every play is he doesn't know what the hell he's doing unless Ryan tells him. As far as center, Macky trumps Phillips. Trudo and emerich (who needs to redshirt) have the most upside. Plus, take all of that into account and realize that USC is prob the most athletic defense they see all year. By far. Still think Jerome and ptg rush for 1200 yards between them when all is said and done.

Not this again please...how many times is this going to come up? This is as bad as posting about RU.
