That schedule is absolutely inssneI really like our haul with DBs. I just know how hard it is for a freshman or redshirt frosh to start and cover Clemson stud, Tennessee stud, SMU stud, Miami stud, and a ND stud at receiver. You need tostud corners andi believe we have Kerr who i love. Just not top program talent yet. Key word is yet.
Yeah, this seems like such an obvious gap, but unless portal stuff is really stealthy it doesn't really sound like it's a huge bad by the staff. Which should mean they think they have an answer already. There must be a plan for Center that hasn’t leaked to this point. I am guessing someone on the roster has been picked already with incoming Fr Stewart as the backup.
I think Wake's entire offensive line was in the portal. One went to Missouri. Hopefully, we are looking at them.LB(2)
Center
EDGE
CB
Safety
QB(if no Kyle)
OT
TE
Damn scary honestlyThat schedule is absolutely inssne
In open space, covered by a linebacker.I wanna see some creativity to get him in some open space.
When we're 10-2 at the end of the season, nobody is keeping us out of the playoff because of our soft schedule. That schedule is absolutely inssne
We don't hit the portal a lot harder than many here think is the plan, we won't have to worry aboutWhen we're 10-2 at the end of the season, nobody is keeping us out of the playoff because of our soft schedule.
Agree with this on Hornsby at c.Codie Hornsby would probably be the name to watch at center among returners.
I don’t see why Reed couldn’t come back given how Pavia won his waiver against the NCAA. Reed and Pavia both started JUCO
i haven’t heard much besides that running back from Penn but are we still looking for other backs assuming Lequint is coming back.Agree with this on Hornsby at c.
Been saying it since first gameAfter watching the games today... we need better Line Play especially on the DL.
Are we really going to cry if we lose ERob?#1 McCord's return. #2 coaching staff stays intact no late departures meaning OC - DC. #3 inbound portal crushes outbound portal OL. top priority. I feel if these 3 happen we will be in good shape for next season.
Very difficult to forecast next year because we have much better returning players that we have not seen much of (if at all). This is one of the best group of youngsters in a long time. Some (Kerr and King come to mind) have shown real promise at positions of need. Five or six portal gets and the world is a different place. We already have Ricky Collins (QB), Chris Long (WR), Naquil Betrand (OT) and are involved in others.Looking at the roster and not actually knowing who else is going to opt out here is my two cents on the positions that we need to fill in order to be competitive next season against the most difficult schedule I have seen in 60 years of watching Syracuse football
QB. Without Kyle returning or someone really stepping up next year is going to be very difficult.
RB. Have not heard on LA hopefully he returns but if not same as above. We need another back. Willis and Nixon are solid, but we could use another stud.
OL specifically center.
On the D side every position with the exception of the DL which I believe will be strong. Specifically, we need two corners and all three LB positions.
Kick off specialist.
I'm not sure who on the current roster will be stepping up so anyone with inside knowledge please step in.
Other than that, we should be fine.We need a lot next year. The entire defense needs to be upgraded. Right now we have no corners i would trust. Same goes for LB. DL has some young potential but can certainly use an impact player.
Offensively, McCord is the key, otherwise it could be a struggle. Need a center , interior lineman, and will ultimately need some young WR’s to step up, and a serviceable TE. People expect a lot from Tremble, but remember it took OG 2 years in the S&C program before he became OG. Tremble is naturally a little smaller, so unless he’s just a freak, i’m not sure if i’m going to expect a lot from him. He looked pretty small this year.
Also, need a PK
Of course. He is an ace recruiter. Two, he did get better as the season went on. Guys can get better at their job as they learn more about it.Are we really going to cry if we lose ERob?
I agree. I think his upside is very strong as a coach and leader. He did coach us to 9 wins with a beat-up Dl Playing frosh most of the year. His move of Diggs to Lb was in my opinion the reason we beat GT. Guy is learning for sure. But he has the sauce.Of course. He is an ace recruiter. Two, he did get better as the season went on. Yep also to add Barron moving over to linebacker won us that nc state game alone and probably that Virginia tech game.I agree. I think his upside is very strong as a coach and leader. And lost your best defensive player, and Captain Wax for almost half the year, he did well.Yep also to add Barron moving over to linebacker won us that nc state game alone and probably that Virginia tech game.
Yup, this defense looked legitimately slow for the first 8 games or so. Problem is we saw many of these same players flying around the last year or two in Tony's defense, and I doubt they got slower. They were playing slow because it was a completely new scheme. I actually think this bled over to our tackling issues too (a step slow, thinking too much etc)Of course. He is an ace recruiter. Two, he did get better as the season went on. Guys can get better at their job as they learn more about it.
Who has he recruited here? Diggs was here for 1 year and while a nice piece wasn’t all conference.Of course. He is an ace recruiter. Two, he did get better as the season went on. Guys can get better at their job as they learn more about it.
Disagree. We got to 9 wins in spite of the D. Not saying it’s all on the DC but many of those game chats roasted him like a chestnut… and I don’t mean Duce.I agree.
