Careful at work today if you're looking at ESPN.com

We'll have to agree to disagree. If anything, I believe it's parents too weak to tell their kids no.
I believe they are brats because they have parents who are these weak people that need to be outraged and offended by everything that isn't right in their wheelhouse. I'm far more outraged that gov't buildings like the one in Arkansas are trying to put up statues of the 10 commandments then if they were putting up some kind of nude sculpture. I'm very happy that the guy exists who keeps running them over with his car.

Seriously?! Your outrage is OK. The outrage of others is not. Really, reread your post. Seems that you feel you are the moral arbiter of our times.

Sure, that's what it is. I am irritated by people complaining and making a big deal about every single thing that happens nowadays but sure, you can go ahead and turn that into whatever you want. Some people are into dealing with that crap and are grown a$$ adults acting like little children on Facebook or wherever else all day. I thankfully deleted all of that stuff about 5 years ago because people being "outraged" about everything is one of the worst things about society in these times.

It's unfortunate that it has become harder and harder to enjoy the positive aspects of society without the cesspool.
Everyone has their own sensibilities, but I don't see ESPN's "The Body" issue as being part of the cesspool, mainly because I believe it has artistic merit (something that is also obviously subjective). As I mentioned before, I think you can make a better case for other aspects of sports culture being part of the cesspool (e.g., collegiate dance teams, Carl's Jr commercials). That stuff doesn't bother me either though. I enjoy a nice dip in the cesspool.

Thanks for your thoughtful post. I just don't see the art...and if it's art, since when is ESPN an art website?

Since when is Sports Illustrated a swimsuit catalog? Competition :noidea:

ESPN has produced a lot of diverse content over the years, with sports being the common thread. Artistic portrayals of athletes' bodies doesn't seem like more of stretch than a 30 for 30 about OJ Simpson. Anyway, I'm not one to tell some entity (person or corporation) that they can't do something new.

Someone mentioned the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. I would argue that it is far more sexually suggestive.

That's literally against the Constitution, every American should be against such a thing. I also didn't care enough about it to post a thing about it anywhere or complain or waste anyone's time as it doesn't negatively effect me in any way. It was just an example of something that seems more significant that espn showing some butt cheeks.
You sound "outraged". You call it irritated. I'm not turning it into anything. You sound silly. You are sick of all the outrage. But the outrage manifested by someone destroying a monument to the ten commandments you happily celebrate. You are sick of outrage which doesn't match your sensibilities.

You can definitely make that argument, though I don't think SI tries to present it as art. I will say that SI gives subscribers who don't want the swimsuit issue to get an additional SI issue mailed to them instead, which I think is sensitive on their part. Back to ESPN, they have a right to do whatever they want, I just think it's inappropriate in that forum. I understand others disagree with me and that's okay. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, as long as they are tolerant of the opinion of others. That's what makes America great.

It literally is not against the Constitution. Every American is clearly not against "such a thing". I haven't seen any outrage on here. Some opinions that it is not appropriate, not sports, etc. But you're an SU fan. So you're cool.

The ironic thing is I didn't create this thread and the one who did compared it to soft porn (or could be mistaken for it). However, when I posted my remarks which reflected that, he couldn't understand why someone would think that.
One thing we can all agree on is we need some SU football ASAP.

Agree. Not expecting much on the season, maybe 5-7 but REALLY looking forward to 2018 when the schedule is more forgiving.

Slightly OT

When I was an art student up on the hill, we'd draw nudes all the time. People *never* believe us - but it really becomes something beautiful and without sexual connotations at all.

(Until your out in the hall way at the vending machine and the model walks up. She says "I love your style!" As her flimsy robe slips just a touch. Then it shifts into a different thing all together.)

Didn't see it, but for the record, I am indifferent to pitbulls or any other dogs wearing clothing, though after reading this thread, maybe they should for hygiene purposes:)
I was watching Pitbull's performance before the home run derby wondering what orangepassion might think about it.

Holy moly, I can't say I follow Pitbull that closely, I've heard what 90% of America has. But, I thought that was just horrific. I understand what he was trying to do, but, it was painful listening to him try and get the crowd to follow along. It was probably much louder than it came acrossed as, it did not sound that way though.

I like the Body Issue. I think it's neat to see the bodies the athletes work so hard to maintain. If my kids (both under 10) happened to be over my shoulder looking too, I'd explain it just like that. Even so, it's once a year and I don't see society exploding because of it. I actually didn't know about this until I saw it in a click bait article with a bunch of men upset because there were "men pictured in mah sports with no clothes on!" I pointed out there was more than just one picture and linked the entire set. Suddenly the post was deleted.

Id like to eat Caroline Wozniacki's liver with some fava beans and a nice bottle of chianti

It was terrible. And the crowd went mild.

Those women though? 10/10 would bang.

You can see him naked even if he's not technically naked. Observe:
