Class of 2014 Carlin Clark DE

I'll take anyone from Central. Eskridge was under recruited and look at him. Some of the staff was down there watching their game today

Whole situation sounds like a boom or bust opportunity--this kid sounds much better than a Howard caliber prospect [ended up there due to being injured his entire senior year]. Us taking the risk could pay big dividends down the road.

Good risk for a program like ours to take, IMO.

i was wrong. he only missed the last few games, but still had a team high 18 sacks this season. doing that for Miami Central is enough where i'm surprised many other programs haven't taken notice. i am guessing it's because he is a little small for a DE. Also remember the Eskridge article with Shafer recruiting him. He had a personal relationship with the Central coach who told him Esk was a player just stuck behind a couple kids who went to FSU, and UM I believe. Could this be another one of those situations? Personally I would love to see a flyer on these types of kids who play at the elite of elite levels of HSFB.

The kind of size at outside linebacker to go with a tight end, and make him think about making catches, in the flat, and over the middle.

Team Florida All-Star football roster
QB – Alin Eduoard – Hialeah
WR – Steve Ishmael – North Miami Beach
DE – Carlin Clark – Miami Central

i would really like to see us get involved with this kid. a couple years in the s&c program and we could be onto something. all you have to do is show him Dwight Freeney tape. it has to be his size he has been under recruited no?

Miami Central just won their 3rd State Title in 4 years. Class 6A - largest schools.

Before Carlin suffered a season ending knee injury he had a team leading 18 sacks.

Against Don Bosco Prep earlier this season he had 2-1/2 sacks in the game.

This is a kid who might be worth the flyer. However that fact that he has the injury probably means no way.

So redshirt the kid if his knee passes a physical. No reason he shouldn't be ok given how common these injuries are these days and how easily surgeries heal them. CJ Fair tore his ACL in high school which probably dropped a bunch of schools from his recruitment. That worked out ok for the bball team.

He would most likely red shirt anyways. I don't think the injury would keep us away unless it was more severe then the usual ACL tear

It's risky recruiting kids with torn acl's. See Miles Davis. It wouldn't be as big a deal if it didn't just happen but it did. You bring a kid in who's going to heal while redshirting but then what if he doesn't bounce back ? He's using up a ship.

if he's that good then hopefully he doesnt qualify until after he's signed his LOI with us.

Interesting note about Carlin Clark - Miami Central ranked #3 in USA Today HS football poll

There are a certain number of kids who can get no FB scholarships if they can't play due to injury. Also, while its different sports, Kueth Duany and CJ Fair have worked out pretty well.

Durrell Eskridge wasn't highly recruited and look how he turned out. He is set to be a future pro whenever he decides to leave Syracuse

As for Carlin if you can dominate competition at one of the biggest HS football factories in the country I will take that kid every single time. He seems to have the frame where he could easily pack on another 25lbs which would be ideal DE size

Agree 100%.

if we were willing to give a free ride to a kid with a knee injury, that warrants big time respect from his school coach who also happens to coach a big time high school program.

someday that coach might help sway a recruit or two here that the Alabama's or other big time school might want.

That is what relationships are all about. For a big time HS coach it is all abut how you treat their kids. We take a chance on a kid the coach believes in and he remembers that big time. I am not saying this is the one but I imagine we will take a real long look.

This is exactly what we did with Eskridge. The Central HC told Shafer that he is a player he was just stuck behind 2 highly rated kids
