Lets be honest, many of us are afraid of a mass exodus of any current talent on the roster that can return, along with the next recruiting class, if a new hire happens. This is a situation where the next recruiting class is top priority, aside from finding a decent coach.

That being said, I think Wildhack needs to go to Carmelo and ask, who is our guy? Who can come in and prioritize his son, Sadiq White, and the top talent on this team, while also being a top tier coaching option this program can move forward with? Carmelo needs to have a say in this matter. He is the best NBA talent to ever come out of this program, and his son is a gem in the next class who I'm sure he pushed to come here. Why would he want his son to play for someone who can't coach? He should use his influence and help as best he can, for the sake of this program as well as his son's future.

One, I don't believe he pushed his son to play for Syracuse. That was his son's choice all the way. Second, if we keep Brendon S on the staff, I think we can keep White. You can get Melo's opinion but JW and a team have to make the choice. We once asked a football expert in Pete Carroll for advice. That didn't work out so well for us. Of course, neither has Red

The minimizing of Carmelo Anthony here in this thread is pretty surprising, I have to say.

It would be smart to keep Melo in the loop and get his input, not so much as a player's parent but as the guy whose name is on our practice facility. That said, he should not be getting the final say on decisions that don't belong to him.

if you start asking the players parents who should be the coach, you should be fired.
You can ask one of the all-time greats to come through your program for a few names he thinks you should interview, though.

Doesn't mean they should be the only interviews, or that they should definitely get the job.

The portal is more important than HS recruits. Unless you are a one and done talent you can develop a year or two at Syracuse and then take a big pay day at Duke.
The portal changes you immediately as opposed to having to develop high schoolers for several years.

We need a guy who can identify the best portal talent and bring them here.

Melo should be asked but his contribution should be cash and getting us in with players.

He should start the tampering now IMO what's the NCAA gonna do.

Quality over quantity get in their ear and line up 3-4 star portal players. Pay Donnie. And you have the freshmen. Petar and Cuffe hang around for depth.

Done. It's not a football roster that is all you need and a good coach.

Why would we keep Straughn on staff? Presumably the expectation is that is any coach we bring in will be able to recruit at that level, White or otherwise
