This is a key (and maybe the final) piece of the defensive backfield transformation. Aside from safety (Oliver and Farmer gone), there are five corners in the portal. The position now depends on a mix of new and returning (mostly R-Sophomore) DB's, but only one returning starter at CB . . . last year's ND transfer Bellamy. He took over the second half of last season (except BC). Of the other returning DB's (besides safeties Duce, JB, Cinco and backup Gould), Delaine had one start at corner (for Bellamy against BC). Martin, Buxton and Perry are reserves that played primarily ST's.

Turning to the new guys, there is today's commit, Lewis (#3?), an experienced ND transfer corner. Grant is another veteran transfer, from UB and by most accounts at spring practice a favorite to start. Frosh AA Barnes (Jan. enrollee) is showing out, but he, Long (Jan. enrollee) and McDaniels (July) lack experience. Haile is reportedly working at WR. So by inference, it appears that the staff is not sanguine about starting Bellamy (or Barnes) opposite Grant. That makes the addition of Lewis especially intriguing, either as a depth piece to share snaps with Bellamy (and maybe Barnes) or as a starter opposite Grant. Excellent portal acquisition.

All I got.

Saw that and keep refreshing this site to see who it is lol

I think this may be the CB transfer from Notre Dame. Hope I'm wrong though!

This is so classic, it is up there with Ed Norton reading Ralph's temperature by holding a match up to the thermometer to read it with better light, "...120 degrees, Ralph!..." and Ralph and Ed wigging out and then Ralph yelling at Ed for using the match. I can never see these 2 comedy sketches enough!

Yeah there is a lot to like here. Nice fit all the way around.

You’ve earned a like for use of the word “sanguine.”
