CBA Football

Who did TD take over from. Pat Murphy who was a helluva of college coach at ASU and ND and a CBA grad. If CBA played based on enrollment levels they would have won ever Sectional title at the Class C and B level. They have the best coaching, facilties and academics in the state. They can fundraise like nobody else. It's all sports men and woman - hell one of the best woman's bowlers is from Fulton and I don't belief she got a NIL package.
Pat Murphy never coached at CBA - he was a CBA grad though just like Tom Dotterer who did coach for decades there.

Like SU, CBA graduates are loyal as is their administration, so many graduates who went to the school, go back often to coach. Their head basketball coach is also a CBA graduate. Their basketball team had many great runs too but haven’t excelled in a while. Most schools have their up and down eras in sports. Look at West Genessee and the Messier Lacrosse era - parents want their kids to succeed and whether public or private they will try to make what they think is their best choice. My oldest 2 went to the local public school with some athletes who played despite living in another district, They all pay taxes and the parents at CBA are still paying school taxes supporting their local school district. We change attitudes about “owning” students when they hit college. By the way I never went to CBA and neither did anyone in my family - just in case. 😀

In addition NIL for high school students is legal in NYS.

They needed to be challenged before sectionals and, perhaps, state playoffs. Regular season blowouts do not prepare a team for a championship run.
Not sure how they could have challenge themselves any more than did. The opened the season against last years Class A state champ in Whitesboro and then played the Class AA runner up in CBA - Albany.

Maybe next year they should open up against the Jets and Saints.

There is endowed money for kids in need. A very large percentage of CBA students receive tuition assistance, and most of them are not football players, nor athletes at all.
I agree but they do get it.

FWIW, there’s been some recent chatter online that Iona Prep has reached out & tried to schedule a game with CBA the last few years but CBA has declined.

Would love to see them play the LI/NYC/Catholic league champs. They are loaded so would probably be favored. Still don’t know why they don’t do this in NY to determine a true state champ.

I think the dome should be used for a series of games in late August to kick off the NYS HS football season.

Feature the best teams from upstate, like CBA and Chenango Forks against the top schools from Long Island to determine who the best teams in the state really are. Teams like Massapequa, St Anthony’s and Garden City could have a chance to play against top notch upstate programs in the best facility in the state.

This needs to happen.
