CFB Rankings for Nov 1

Well if history continues we will see…

Tenn in (bet them vs UGA Saturday if you believe in history repeating)

Ohio State in

UGA out

50-50 Clemson, Michigan, Bama, TCU

Not going to take into account anything with the QB. It’s based on what you are right now and now what you hoped you would be during the game. In that sense it’s a more fair ranking than the AP or coaches poll that’s based on what they think a team should be doing and not what they’ve actually done. But we should be in the top 25

Perhaps, I watched ACC PM yesterday and Packer said the committee would very much take it into account, he even guaranteed they would. Packer being so adamant about it is what put it into my mind.

If a team plays with an injured QB and then plays the backup for half the game, isn’t that the team that played the game? That’s what the committee looks at. Absolutely they’ll take into account we played Clemson tough, that will make a difference. But the what if of, this guy was injured and this guy, etc. That’s not a factor. Your team is who lined up to play, hurt or not. If Packer said they’ll factor into their thinking players who should have played but didn’t and players injured, he’s absolutely wrong.

An article in The Athletic contradicts this.

“6. Conditions and injuries matter.

Each committee member is a liaison for at least one conference, responsible for passing along relevant information to the rest of the committee about the conference he or she watches most closely. Every conference has two conference liaisons.

It matters if a team was missing a quarterback or a left tackle in a game or if a game was played in a monsoon or a blizzard. It doesn’t excuse a loss, but it might lessen the impact if committee members decide it should. That’s up to each individual member.”

I would think it works both ways. If a team looked really good before an impact player is lost for the season and then not as good after, they could count the injury against them. If a team looks bad in a loss without the impact player, but the player is expected to return, the presence of the injury could reduce the perception of the loss.

So I’m partially right since it’s left up to the individual member to decide. So essentially I’m completely right….. :)

Lol you literally told me that the individuals would not take extenuating circumstances (QB) into account. I was right sir!

Might and up to are very important parts. So we’ll split the difference. We’re both right even if I’m a little more right b/c I’ve been on the board longer :)

That’s fair, I respect seniority so I will yield to the gentleman known as qdawgg.

We’re getting some collateral damage fire from people attacking Clemson’s SOS, even though Michigan’s non conference games clearly hurt them. Comments such as “they almost lost to Syracuse!” as if we are scrubs are all over social media.

Greg McElroy who was calling our ND game is also now beating the drum about how we got dominated and shouldn’t be ranked.

Let’s beat Pitt and shut some mouths.

I hope Greg said that about Wake, they got blasted way worse than us last weekend . Like you said, get back on track and beat Pitt and shut people up.

He said all three of us (20-22) shouldn’t be ranked. Idk what the ACC needs to do to get the respect it deserves. Meanwhile not a peep about Tulane.

SEC boy probably thinks Mizzou and Vandy should be in there

We at least came back and made a game of it even with the 2 gifts for scores.

Most of these talking heads are morons and it doesn’t matter. You could beat 3 ranked SEC teams in a row and they’d say you won because they didn’t take SU seriously. Doesn’t matter what we do, there will be a ton of morons talking crap. Just like Clemson is dealing with today. Is what it is in CFB.

I’m so confused. National talking heads are losing their minds this morning that Clemson is #4 over Michigan. Clemson has THREE wins over Top 25 teams, and Michigan’s strength of schedule is 3 spots higher than Lemoyne. (I looked it up).

Is it as simple as Clemson hasn’t looked like “Clemson” and Michigan passes more of the “eye test?” I’m just confused as to why the experts can’t objectively see Clemson should be higher based on current resume.

I guess the whole thing will work itself out.
Yeah, it really doesn't matter because Clemson needs to win out to stay in the top 4 and I don't think a 1 loss Michigan or OSU finishes ahead of Clemson.

So I’m partially right since it’s left up to the individual member to decide. So essentially I’m completely right….. :)
Assuming this is sarcasm; Yes, ha ha.

TCU will stumble. Bama (hopefully) loses once more. Clemson might lose to ND. Michigan will come down to OSU - hoping they lose.

Then it's straight up chaos for the last two

Say the following happens:
Bama beats LSU, loses to Ole Miss (or beats Ole Miss and Loses to LSU).
LSU loses to Texas A&M if they beat Bama.
Ole Miss loses to Miss State if they beat Bama.
Oregon beats Utah but loses to Oregon State.
TCU loses to Texas
Okie State loses to Oklahoma
Clemson loses to ND
USC beats UCLA, loses to ND
K State loses to Kansas
Illinois loses to Michigan, Michigan loses to OSU
PSU loses to Maryland

And Syracuse wins out, we'd be in the final four
