Class of 2026 CG Ryan Moesch (NY) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/14/26)

Besides Gerry, 2 other guys come to mind. How does he compare to Mac McClung and going farther back, Teddy Dupay at Florida?

Should have hired the HC off this board because everyone seems to know more than GMac.

Kid looks great to me. I’m excited to have him. I’m happy with all the signings so far.
They are getting the right guys. Maybe not the top target in certain positions of the right guys yet (and it’s more about establishing themselves at this level , not money), but they are carving their own path and I’m here for it. People here who are panicking, it’s because it’s different than what we’ve done ever in this new era. The Dual addition panic regardless of his role on this upcoming team is the most unbelievable thing I’ve ever seen on this board, ifykyk why it was ridiculous. They are building a program!

Tobiason mentioned that he might see time at the 1, 2, and 3.
Thinking Think GIF

Hmmm….

i may not hate that if Tobiason’s handle is pretty good. That may be a big IF though. I haven’t watched enough of him to know. But If he could play 20 at SF and 12 at the point with Dual getting most of the rest that could work nicely and get more minutes for all of the SG/SF types. Also gets some more scoring on the floor along with keeping defensive size at the PG position. Unless Moesch proves himself to be more ready than we think he may be at his size, we could see that.

What's unbelievable is people coming on this board every year and claiming the transfer commits are ACES and exactly what we need... then the team plays the season, flames out, and isn't good enough.

Here's hoping that changes under GMAC, but not buying into any of the transfer hype anymore until this team takes the court and and we see the product.

Tobiason mentioned playing some PG in pick and roll sets.

Please nobody get flustered by this question.

I’ve never seen Moesch play before. His other offers were Providence, Siena, Akron and Bowling Green. I saw him described as “not a dynamic athlete.” Will he be able to dribble drive and break down a defense? A skill that other than Judah we really haven’t had at point guard much of the past decade.

I’m not going say for sure it’s going to work or not, I have no idea, it’s basketball. But it’s a different approach and intriguing by my vantage point.

Well, he's a 'gamer.' Welcome aboard.

Reminds of of a Brandon Pod from the Warriors. I hope he can be effective with this level's physicality. He certainly has 10x the ups that GMac had.

I believe Gerry thinks he can. Supposedly a great skill he has is to change speed and direction as needed.
Throw out a pass for an easy 2 or 3 when you think he is intent on scoring.

He also was supposedly offered by Iowa but actually only visited Siena and Providence.
Signed with Siena the day after he returned from Providence.

The article posted above by the Providence fan is very insightful as well.

His Cushing coach said that by all rights the fact he was a small guard should have stopped him from being elite. But he changed his mind. The coach said he was literally better than every guard he played, which includes Tillory mentioned in another thread. Apparently he has always been underestimated and just uses that as fuel to work harder and prove them wrong. Definitely in the mold of both GMAC and Doty.

Since he and Doty are good friends, I bet they work out a lot together this summer.

I hear you.

My only point is, let's see it first.

E.g. We were told on this board (after he signed) that Carlos was the real deal at PG, the staff was absolutely thrilled with him and that he was going to kill it in the ACC... The ACC season started and he was a deer in the headlights, terrified, and a liability bringing the ball up court without getting it stripped...

Turns out he was what you'd expect when making the jump from Hofstra to the ACC... Not good enough.

He seems extremely comfortable operating out of ball screens...curling around, getting the defender on his back, and putting them in jail while he slowly reads the help defenders to determine if he should pass, go to the rim, or attempt a floater.

I don't think he has a lighting fast first step to beat defenders out of isolation, BUT he is very good at selling his moves and using that savviness to create angles for himself to get downhill at times.

I suspect the former (ball screens) will translate pretty well. The latter I'm a bit more skeptical. May take some seasoning to figure out what does and doesn't work at this level. Think his shot needs some work too to become a bigger weapon so that he can use that to create more driving opportunities too.

That's my hunch anyways from watching some of his film. I think he has a chance to overcome his relatively small height/weight but I'd be lying if I said I'm confident that he'll make it. Also have a hunch that Gerry really believes in him.

I posted some full games of Cushing somewhere in this thread, but will try to get them added to my Transfers spreadsheet later tonight or tomorrow too.
