Class of 2026 CG Ryan Moesch (NY) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/14/26)

He will much better than a lot of people think. Too many discount him because he came from Chittenango originally even though he played at the highest level AAU and dominated many PGs that were highly regarded by the so called experts.

Have much bigger needs at PF and C

Well hey that's great, but let's give the dude some sandwiches so he can put on some good weight and not get tossed around by ACC players.

Can we try to be objective here? Those highlights were very, very High School. Size of the competition, all that open space for most of those ‘dimes,’ the low, push shot jumper…. We would find ‘impressive’ reels from high school from the worst guards who ever suited up for SU. What does impress, though: the motor, the ups, the vision, and the ‘head to head’ results against other highly-regarded PGs, though that’s still in a weird contextual area.

I have high hopes, but not expectations. And wanting him to start is nuts. “Down the road” is also sorta impractical, too. In this era, can we expect any player has a ‘down the road’ story? Maybe Moesch does, as he’s connected to Gerry. After all, we did have JJ and Donnie for multiple years, but it’s still quite difficult to project that. I hope we’re good and he earns enough minutes to make it worthwhile for him to stay. I really hate the one year mercenary thing and the one year didn’t get enough PT so I’m leaving for a lower level for a year thing. Wish we could get back to building players, and seeing them evolve over 3-4 years. This guy could be one of those.

its not high school as in Chittenango. its prep school against other prep schools in the NEPSAC.

It’s not the Chittenango that gives me pause, it’s the 5’10” 170 pounds.

I italicized “high school” because I was referring to the look of it, not the classification. But, I appreciate the clarification.

Pretty close to gmac size when he was a freshman, contrary to what the stats may say
GMac was a freak. Not an archetype!

I just rewatched the video of his 9 threes against BYU. He was doing peak Steph Curry stuff back then. A clinic. A masterclass on creating space. And it’s not that he was running from corner to corner to find space. He would work in a pretty tight circle around a Forth pick, and the objective wasn’t to create space in front of him. He manipulated defenders to be alongside or behind him—just out of balance and reach. Just beautiful stuff. If Moesch could shoot like that, I’d be heartened. That moesch needs to work inside the arc gives me pause. That was not GMac’s forté. And GMac was not a strong/good defender.

There were a few finishes with his right hand at the end of the reel.

He looks lighter than GMac. Does he shoot as well as Gerry did?
Does he jump higher than G Mac, with as seemed as good or better court presence? Also I very much trust that defenses will not completely key on him his sophomore, junior and senior years exponentially and exclusively as to shut down this team. as we noted which I believe very much affected G Mac's shooting stroke. Shut him down and you will shut down the whole entire thing. That is why we struggled so much his senior year and we still did what we did because of him. Crazy. Player development did not occur around him as we originally thought yet he was one of the greatest ever for sure.
