sometimes timing just is bad - this is the first year he has any shot to actually play. Even then this was against basically a crappy D2 team quality wise . It’s a blessing the kid is even out there so enough this BS.

Not true. Kid went through some personal stuff. He was and is good. But he had some stuff going on and it was mutual for him not to play. I’m not gonna put his business out there though and he’s also a great kid

The thought the college coaches would not play somebody who could help them win has always been fascinating to me.

whatever the case, the westry saga at syracuse was one of the strangest I have ever witnessed

red did put him in a couple of games last season...so...

this guy is uber talented but basically never got on the floor in 3 years

and his first game for a new team he goes off for 23 points and MVP of the game

im guessing he has a great season this year for UAB...which would make the whole thing even weirder

not having a healthy westry the last 2 seasons really changed a lot of things imo...huge loss

I also don't know the whole story, but...

It's unfortunate for us if Westry's injury wasn't sufficiently healed during our time with him, and that it just happens that it's good now, for someone else. Unfortunate, also, if this could have been foreseen by our medical people, and we could have kept him after such an 'investment.' But, maybe there were other factors involved in him not wanting to stay? I didn't see enough in his performance in those few opportunities with us to fault Red for not playing him more. He just didn't look like he could do what he used to be known for doing.

Kinda reminds me of the 'tragic' scenario with Chris Sale and the Red Sox. Boston had hm for a couple of injury-plagued seasons, then dumped him, ostensibly with the sense that he just wasn't going to be consistently healthy, and once gone, he goes out and wins the Cy Young...

Well, whatever. I'm glad he's doing well, and i hope he can remain healthy and fulfill his promise.

At the beginning of Red’s first season, the staff was feeling very bullish on him in preseason practice, then he got injured. And injured again. And when he was finally ready to come back, Red didn’t play him much, then it was reported that he had some kind of personal issue keeping him out.

this from Red just makes it actually sound like a coaching decision "im not going to put him out there" is what i got

meanwhile...Chance actually had 4 assists in 10 minutes of action for the Orange last year!
