I also don't know the whole story, but...
It's unfortunate for us if Westry's injury wasn't sufficiently healed during our time with him, and that it just happens that it's good now, for someone else. Unfortunate, also, if this could have been foreseen by our medical people, and we could have kept him after such an 'investment.' But, maybe there were other factors involved in him not wanting to stay? I didn't see enough in his performance in those few opportunities with us to fault Red for not playing him more. He just didn't look like he could do what he used to be known for doing.
Kinda reminds me of the 'tragic' scenario with Chris Sale and the Red Sox. Boston had hm for a couple of injury-plagued seasons, then dumped him, ostensibly with the sense that he just wasn't going to be consistently healthy, and once gone, he goes out and wins the Cy Young...
Well, whatever. I'm glad he's doing well, and i hope he can remain healthy and fulfill his promise.
