Chris was a kid who seemed to really get down on himself. Unlike some other past players with actual bad attitudes, his frustration always seemed directed at himself. Hope he turns that around (except when SU plays Cal, of course).

Usually, when a guy leaves after a year or so, I don't think twice about them. A couple I have actively rooted against, for my own reasons. But Chris gave us 3 years and I wish nothing but good things for him. SU vs Cal matchups excepted.

As I noted in my follow up, he doesn’t strike me as the kid who sees basketball as his everything or even top 5. Clearly academics being a big part of his focus but just in general he obviously lays a lot of pressure on himself to succeed and I could see him leaving hoops behind him not long after college even if he does look into playing internationally. Which is not by any means a knock. Sometimes the things we are good at aren’t good for us over the long haul.

Chris reminds me a lot of Frank Howard. There is just a sense you get watching them that basketball is a big part of them but there isn’t a true passion and love for the game. It’s more a matter of a means to succeed and enjoyment when things go well for them. That’s just a distant observation which could be way off of course.

He probably is a wonderful young man, just not a well rounded basketball player. Basketball always seemed like an afterthought to him. That's ok if in the red end result he gets the education he wants.

Not sure how a fan who doesn't know him can make the assessment that basketball was an afterthought to him.

It is true that he is not a well-rounded basketball player. The same can be said of many former SU players and most of the guys who have transferred out in recent years.

He was a limited player, and those limitations hurt us the last few seasons. I'm glad he's found a landing spot because it was time to move on for him.

There's often been a bit of a personal slant when it comes to Bell. He wasn't just an incomplete basketball player because he had limited skills, he had limited skills due to some expressed moral failures. Sometimes it really went overboard.

Did three things well and everything else poorly. His three things
1) wide open shot only
2) chase from behind block
3) make my mom swoon bc he was so “cute”
Literally not a part of the rest of his game that had any semblance of a winning player. No handle. No rebounds. No passing. No screens set or running through them to get open. No respect for officials. No ability to be a good teammate unless he was on fire shooting. But again, my mom thought he was very handsome and made me stop complaining. My mom is 79.

I like hearing about kids who place academics first. He will probably figure out life, he a great story to tell and become a success in life. I wish him happiness.
