And under the suspensions, you can apply for readmission. So maybe this can all be worked out.
Having been a preppy it is really hard to be a scholarship athlete. For the most part the other students have serious money compared to these athletes. I also found that a lot of prep students came from homes where their parents were too busy for them, and there is an atmosphere of getting into trouble, probably for attention. This was not my case, but there was a decent contingent that fit into one or the other category. I actually was friends with the bball players. My friend, Ronnie Norwood was one of the biggest players coming out of high school that year. He went to Providence where they won the NC his freshman year, but Dave Gavitt would not let Freshman play even though it was finally allowed. He did not get along with Gavitt at all, and ultimately ended up at DePaul where he was in the re cord book until very recently if not still as the all time assist leader. He was drafted, and blew out his knee in one of the first practices. He never got out of the Newark, NJ/Oranges area, drives an ambulance, and barely makes ends meet. A few years ago I took him to the Syracuse/Seton Hall game. Bottom line is that I really know how hard it was for Ronnie to go from Newark, NJ to Northern New Hampshire, where he was one of the only non white students, and adjust to life and academia. By the way, his brother also went there as a ball player and has a phd in English and is a college prof. So who knows. End of story, lol
