Cincinnati 34, Miami 23. Final.

The U Brand leads to inflated recruiting rankings? Or poor coaching?

2016 - 13th
2015 - 39th
2014 - 11th
2013 - 21st
2012 - 9th

Imagine a four-five year recruiting run like that and seeing the results they have?

since 2006 they are 63-52 and 1-5 in bowls

we are 47 -62 and 3-0 in bowls ... and 9 wins and 27 losses were courtesy of the Gerg era (minus that era we are 38-35) with mid 60's recruiting rankings

Miami has the QB in place in Kaaya. I just don't get how Miami can't recruit good defensive players or use them correctly.
Miami needs a HC that recruits keeps Miami kids at home. Randy Shannan had a commitment from Teddy Bridgewater and when he got fired he went to Louisville.

Miami needs a new coach.

I just don't see the talent on these Miami teams, despite the rankings. Jimbo Fisher has really hurt Miami's recruiting. Miami looks like a smallish team to me, and lacks the elite speed that those teams used to have. LSU would have beaten Miami by 3 or 4 TD's.
Did you watch Rashawn Scott? That guy is a first round pick at WR.
Brad Kaaya is a true Sophomore QB who looks really good.
Miami has speed and their offense is really solid.
Miami has a problem on defense. If we played Miami this year we would be an underdog. Talent isn't Miami's problem its a coaching situation.

Not sure who gets fired first. Miami's pro or college head coach.
we were talking about yards being predictive of record in the long run in another thread. miami last year is the biggest exception i can think of.

430 ypg on offense, 330 ypg on defense. they were 100 yards better on offense. 30% difference. Ending up 6-7 outgaining your opponents like that is a What season

I did. In your own words, their defense is underwhelming and a step slow, in spite of those talented recruiting classes. I like Scott and Kaaya. There isn't much else there though. There is a big difference in the talent levels and depth of FSU vs Miami, wouldn't you agree? I don't think Fisher is a better coach than Golden. I don't think Jimbo wins at Temple, and I'm not fully endorsing Golden either.

eventually having no fans catches up with a team. (I know..) all their cheating has raised our expectations of miami. we know they cheated like hell but we still kinda expect them to be as good as when they cheated like hell

good points.

The NFL thinks pretty highly of Miami's talent as of late. Coaching and the dead vibe down there must play into this heavily. Some of the guys drafted and producing who have played for The U in the past five years:

Travis Benjamin
Duke Johnson
Allen Hurns (undrafted)
Allen Bailey
Brandon Washington
Brandon McGee
Lamar Miller
Denzel Perryman
Ereck Flowers

What's going on with Lamar Miller? He looked great in the preseason. Are they just getting buried early in games? I don't think they have run many plays in general in the 1H of games so far.

Mostly OL issues and them getting behind early and not running as much. Both have cut into his production.

ACC is 1 Clemson loss to Notre Dame from being pure dumpster fire.
Florida State and Clemson really need to win some games. Coastal division is pure garbage now that Miami lost and Georgia/Virginia Tech have each lost 2 games.

I soooo wish we were in the Coastal. Not only do I prefer practically every school in it to their Atlantic companion, but it's weak as hell too.

No kidding. Duke has it easy.

Doesn't Miami have the 2nd or 3rd most guys playing in the NFL now? I assume their talent is strong enough to beat Cincy and win the weak-ass Coastal most years. So I assume their coaching is clearly lousy.

Al Golden was so hyped around here. guy is ordinary

Makes me wonder where he is going to land. Is Rutgers paying close attention to his status?

Screw Golden, I wonder where Tuberville is going to land?

I forget how long he's been at Cincy, but since 2012 they've been 10-4, 9-4, 9-4 and this year 3-2. And his teams score a lot of points.

He jumped ship from Texas Tech Dec 2012 when Butch Jones left for Tennessee.

Tuberville won't bail out on Cincy unless something huge opens up.

Hopefully pro. My fourteen-year-old daughter has taken to yelling at me that I "ruined football" for her because she would like football but has been saddled with the Dolphins since birth.

The coaching has always been the problem with Lamar Miller. Very talented running back but he just doesn't get the ball. For some reason they think Tannehill is the next Brady and let him sling it 40+ times a game.

Against the bills- miller has a nice run to inside the 5 yard line and then they throw 4 straight incompletions and turn it over on downs.

He simply doesn't get the ball early or enough in the games. Some coaches just don't get it and try to get too cute.

Gruden is the worst coach in the league though, imo.

They went 6-7 last year and had 7 draft picks including 2 first rounders. It has nothing to do with talent.

0 - 4 against the Coastal; would it matter?
There is no Clemson or Florida State in the Coastal division which puts 2 losses on you most years. Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Miami don't scare me now. Duke/North Carolina/Virginia are hoops schools first now and Pitt is Pitt.
We could compete in the Coastal a lot more easily than the Atlantic.

Our division is superior from top to bottom, The coastal is a joke. Miami and VT were supposed to be the strong programs on that side, but its not working out.
