just have one division ugh
There needs to be some kind of change. Playing teams in our conference every what is it, 7 years? That's absurd.
just have one division ugh
3+5+5 model is by the far the best solution.(3 annual opponents, play 5 other teams year 1, play other 5 teams year 2 so on.)just have one division ugh
0 - 4 against the Coastal; would it matter?
Of course it would matter. That division sucks. If we got back to 90s-era SU performance we'd win that division more years than not.
Clemson has a damn good history. They won a NC in 1981 and have put a lot of players in the NFL.True, but Miami and Vtech could say the same and then we would have our hands full. We never did compete very well against Miami (except when they got hit with sanctions). I'm not really worried about the divisions because everything in football is cyclical. Many are treating Clemson like one of the big boys who compete for national championships every year. That's just not true... they're just on the upside of one of their own cycles. Mediocrity is right around the corner for them. I fully expect Miami and VTech to get better which will change the landscape of the Coastal division. We're in a tough spot right now but things will change as we continue to improve.
we were talking about yards being predictive of record in the long run in another thread. miami last year is the biggest exception i can think of.
430 ypg on offense, 330 ypg on defense. they were 100 yards better on offense. 30% difference. Ending up 6-7 outgaining your opponents like that is a What season
showing my bias here by not checking first but i bet there were a lot of stupid puntsYep, UCF in 2010 and Miami last year are the only teams with a combined offense and defense ranking of less than 60 to have a losing season since 2009.
That is really under performing. 74 teams have been 59 or lower, averaged 10.7 wins.
Clemson has a damn good history. They won a NC in 1981 and have put a lot of players in the NFL.
Clemson is an SEC fanbase in the ACC. With their recruiting hotbeds they are going to be good a lot more than not.
VPI is going thru the Bobby Bowden ending with Beamer. Their next HC needs to be somebody.
VPI FB= SU BB but SU BB has won a NC.
Miami needs the right coach they will always get talent.
We could do a lot better in the Coastal than the Atlantic.
Can't wait to get them in the Dome this year!!saw clemson posting garbage they are ny's college team on twitter the other day. Even if its bad for us I hope they lose by 40.
rex ryan wore a sweater vest sunday in miami, i couldn't believe itIf your HC wears a dress shirt and tie in the heat in Miami, he's probably the ultimate meathead coach. Kaaya might be the best NFL prospect among college QB's and he's dealing with a coach who wants to win 17-13. Miami has talent, but they don't have a guy who wants to utilize said talent.
Penn State fans will embrace Golden and his ties when he returns after the inevitable Franklin fiasco.
You are way too generous to VPI/Beamer. SU Hoops has won MANY big time games. VPI has won very few big time games and usually rolls over for big name teams (whether up or down). I hope Beamer holds on for a few more years and deflates the VPI fantasy that never was.
Clemson is historically on par with Syracuse. 'Nuff said. Raising them above the historical prominence of Syracuse is a fallacy that leads to too many CFB fans thinking Syracuse is just a flash in the pan when we win. Add to that the fact that Clemson had the easy run of the ACC for 40 years prior to FSU joining and one can see that their record is skewed (not on VPI or recent Rutgers levels).
Pro coach. But don't be shocked to see Chip Kelly coaching the Hurricanes next yearNot sure who gets fired first. Miami's pro or college head coach.
Miami was dead to me after 2003.You just did. Miami is more Big East than Cinci.
